Saturn Venus: Part 2 (continued from last post)

I wanted to add a bit more around the presence of the North Node (Destiny Point}  in conjunction with Saturn and Venus. This combination  indicates there are important lessons around love for us all, and  anyone with planets or angles (ascendant, descendant, IC, MC) close by (8 degrees Scorpio) will feel them most intensely.

This three way conjunction is still in play (though it is now slowly waning, the effects will continue to ripple out  in the next few weeks). Changes and insights around current relationships will likely be long lasting.  Endings may occur, as well as solidifications. Though uncomfortable, remember that doubts that come up at this time can lead us into deeper introspection ... and thus to emotional growth and transformation, as per the Saturn in Scorpio energy I have written about. (see tab at top).

The subject of LOVE has been written about throughout the ages ... and these words here can only seem to scratch the surface of this profound subject. Still one has to try. I came across an excellent article by astrologer Melanie Reinhart on the current combination of Saturn and Venus and the North Node and thought I'd add some of it here.

Earlier in the article (link at bottom)  Melanie reminds us that Venus is about value ... and in particular, about how we value our self. This leads to how we love and how we attract love.

Saturn is associated with life lessons and also with melancholy... which often arises as the result of feeling stymied or challenged to go deeper. The following is excerpted from

Saturn, Venus and The Dragon’s Head  By Melanie Reinhart | September 23, 2013

"Venus-Saturn-Node: Receiving the Energy

With this triple conjunction as a curtain-raiser for the forthcoming eclipse season, contemplate, expect, or perhaps even cultivate some of the following:

Insight about relationships, past and present (and perhaps future?)

Rich, deep feelings, passion and desire. Develop the capacity to “hold” and savour these experiences, rather than suppressing them or being at their mercy.

Deep letting go — “something” is ending

Tender melancholy, joyful solemnity

Quiet, internal rejuvenation

Recognition and release of negative judgements about self and others

Meetings with people significant to your destiny, “fellow-travellers”

Moving beyond mourning into appreciation of those who are no longer part of your physical life, due to death or separation

Appreciation of long-term connections with people who are in your life now

Connection with the soul’s deepest sense of Value and values

Awareness of where and how discipline is needed

Being given the “task list” for the next phase of your life

Let’s not be afraid of melancholy.

In Medieval times, this experience was respected and understood to generate deep philosophic insights. Now, however, the merest hint of it risks being pathologised and medicated out of existence. Current propaganda encourages us to be “up, bright, and shiny” all the time, but perhaps the soul-movement of the current Saturn-Venus will allow us to revalue, appreciate, and perhaps even enjoy (Venus) our own melancholy moods (Saturn). Try letting yourself feel like a melancholy but happy Hermit, while in the midst of “it all.” Saturn-Node-Venus will love this sadhana!(3) " (spiritual practice)

This is an important opportunity to learn from our relationships. I invite you to dive deep, and enjoy your reveries....(and revelations)

AUTUMN EQUINOX Weighing all things to make them equal

The Autumnal Equinox brings everything into balance as the Sun moves into Libra, sign of the scales.  As the seasons shift, Autumn begins in the northern hemisphere and Spring begins in south. Today, just for a moment, day and night are equal all over the world.

Sun in Virgo recently prompted our increased focus and effort, getting us to pay attention to details. The harvest Moon in Pisces brought us a fullness of feeling and imagination.

Now Libra, the sign of beauty and love, wants us to harmonize with others. To do that, we must first find the balance in ourselves.

Venus, ruler of Libra,  sits exactly on the North Node of the Moon, called the Destiny Point, marking a powerful focus on how we love and partner with others.

Saturn is there too, adding to the significance of this aspect.  Saturn in Scorpio (see tab above) … is the task master, the planet of karma that shows us our lessons and where we need to grow up and face the music. It’s about what we need to let go of to move forward in our lives. This meeting of love and karma at the destiny point represents a karmic reckoning, a need for our relationship patterns to shift.

A few weeks ago  a strong focus on Juno got us to look at marriage patterns as reflections of our conditioned ideas around commitment and partnership.

The current (no pun intended) Grand Trine in Water is putting us in touch with our emotions in a powerful way that can sometimes be overwhelming. Jupiter in Cancer, part of that trine aspect, has been waking up a deep sensitivity and need to nurture and be nurtured. There is a focus on rising feminine power, long suppressed and defiled in a patriarchal world.

Saturn in Scorpio has been getting us to dig deep and remove all that is no longer serving our highest good. And Pluto, co-ruler of Scorpio, has just turned direct … adding to the push .

Scorpio is about the shadow self, the parts of ourselves that we have repressed and denied or ignored. It’s hard work to descend so deep into our own psyches. Yet if we don’t those unconscious patterns play havoc in our relationships. And how can we love ourselves if we have parts we hate or deny?

Saturn and Venus in Scorpio is about facing it all and loving it all. This is transformative love.

Venus will also be squared to Mars in Leo, causing  friction between masculine and feminine energies.

Venus is the goddess of love and beauty, harmony, balance. Mars is the god of war and aggression. Venus is about relating, Mars is about desire.

This dance will enliven our awareness of each other as well as bring up more of the issues Saturn is forcing us to deal with.

This is the Year of the Snake after all … where we  shed a skin or two as part of the emotional cleansing.

The focus on Saturn in Scorpio at the Destiny Point shows there is an imperative to look at our unconscious patterns in relationships. We are all being asked to ‘step up to the plate ‘ and take responsibility for what we are manifesting in life and in the world.  It’s so easy to blame others, yet the mirror of relationship points us squarely back at ourselves.

The thing is, it really is all about love. If we don’t love and accept ourselves at the deepest level, how are our relationships going to work? And if we cannot relate peacefully to each other, how will there ever be peace in this world.

As within, so without.

Happy Peace Day  by the way  (yesterday, Sept,21)

Did you do something to celebrate Peace? I know it needs to be more than just one day, but it is not a bad thing to start there. I had a most inspiring day… watched a wonderful talk with Jeremy Gilley (founder of International Peace Day) and Prem Rawat (Jedi Peace Warrior) about bringing peace to the world as well as finding it in our own self.

See this excellent talk here: "Peacemakers"

Maybe one day we will all discover that love really is our essence and perhaps knowing that will bring the balance and harmony we seek.

And this is what Venus and Saturn in Scorpio want us to do. Let go of the tragic stories and discovery the reality.

The feminine power is rising. It is about authentic relating. It is about feeling our feelings. It is about honouring the feminine, about nurturing and being nurtured. It is about honouring mother earth.

Once we find that inner balance and harmony, we really can be the change we want to see in the world.

Peace be with you.

Full Moon on Thursday: “The unexamined life is not worth living”.

We are heading toward the Autumn Equinox, when day and night are at equal length. It is a time of balancing and harmonizing as the Sun sips into the sign of Libra next weekend. Finding an equilibrium could be a challenge right now, with so many oppositional energies fighting for dominance in our highly charged astrological climate.

While the Sun is still in Virgo,  it is urging us to pay attention to details as we organize  those tasks that need doing; this is the proverbial 'bringing in the harvest' as the Full Moon approaches.

Mars in Leo is excited about … well so many things. Saturn has been holding that enthusiasm in check somewhat this past week, but things will smooth out now as Mars moves further into Leo. If you have a birth date in mid august you should be feeling pretty fired up right now.

On the other hand, this Thursday’s Full Moon in Pisces has a very watery feel.  This gentle, ethereal energy will activate our dreams and imagination, and as the Moon fills out on Thursday, some of us will just want to float wistfully down a river. If you feel just a tad vulnerable under this lunar glow, take time out to nurture your tender heart, and let your imagination wander.

The Full Moon is also  part of the ongoing Grand Water Trine . This is a beautiful, emotionally cleansing energy field.  Step into the healing waters … let it wash away your troubles.

If you have creative projects on hold, now is a good time to get them going. The combination of fire (Mars in Leo) and water (Moon in Pisces) brings a rainbow of creative expression.

Meanwhile, Venus, planet of love and relating (and also money) joins Saturn’s in Scorpio, encouraging us to explore the nature of our energy exchanges … be they sexual or monetary.  Frustrations or blockages serve to draw our attention to what lies beneath the surface. A little psychological deep sea diving will bring up some treasures now; and though not always easy, will be much worth the effort.

Remember, part of emotional intelligence is to ask the right questions.

STOP =  Stop Think Observe Proceed

The 'observe' part of that would involve really 'feeling into things' (aided by the powerful water element).  How do you ‘suss’ what is truly right and wrong for you? Or for another?   The astrology suggests that if you find some resistance or blockage, feel into it. As you check it out on a visceral level… ask:  Is it lingering around in the body, emotions or energy field ... or is it a thought or a belief (or expectation) that is holding you back?

Sometimes it is something that has been denied or suppressed for too long… that now needs expressing. That could be due to Lilith, an astrological point that is being activated right now. Her presence says it is highly likely that what has been suppressed is our feeling self, our intuition, our sensitivity, our feminine side. She also represents  female power. 'I am woman. hear me roar!! ' She is waiting to be heard after being denied for too long. I promise to tell her story next post. Till then, know that she is appearing very strongly and will not be denied.

Speaking up for ourselves is sometimes a steep learning curve.  Mercury (communication) is now in Libra, the sign of balance and relating.  Mercury will soon be adding the fourth angle on the grand cross aspect we are getting to know so intimately.  This will amplify the need to speak our truth, though the planetary tension could cause words to come out all wrong, or be taken in the wrong way.

Libra urges us see the other persons point of view; it seeks harmony and balance and helps us develop diplomacy under pressure. Use it to smooth out those rough edges and think things out before you speak! (or before you start bombing someones country!)

Hopefully,  this placement’s harmonizing tendencies can help sooth many a difficult situation…

‘Pleasant manners succeed, even with difficult people.’

Yet we mustn’t let politeness get in the way of being honest. Saturn in Scorpio is all about being real. I told you it’s a tricky balance right now.

The Grand Water Trine notwithstanding, there is very  tense astrology right now and through the coming weeks, as the  Pluto Uranus square continues to rock our world.

Yet despite these tensions, or even because of them, there is a truly dynamic, creative force available for change and transformation. If you can harness and direct it accordingly, great things can happen.  Sometimes it is not until we are pushed that we seek new solutions. What’s that saying about ‘insanity’ :  ‘doing the same thing over and over again and expecting to get  the same results?

Time for something completely different!!

Good luck with that.

Happy Full Moon!!

Venus in Libra: Pleasant Manners

The astrological forecast continues to be dramatic, intense, difficult, transformative. Take your pick!

In the immediate foreground, Sun and Mercury in Virgo are activating our attention to details and urging to get organised. Today I got out all my files and set them in order … something I have been wanting to do for ages. Thank you Virgo!! Easy peasy!

We had a New Moon on Thursday and if you hurry you can still squeeze in an intention for the coming month. This beginning Moon in Virgo is all about the details.

Mars in Leo adds fire to our actions, and many will experience  an acceleration of activity in the area Mars sits in their chart. (see tab at top for house meanings) And though it's warp speed forward Scotty, a short term square to Saturn will slow you down for a few days. So if your wheels are churning, have patience; this too shall pass.

And while you are waiting,  this is a good time to look at your diet and exercise regimes as health issues are also highlighted in Virgo. We can handle stress much more easily when we are feeling at our best. That green smoothie not only feeds you energy, it stabilises you in the midst of so much intense energy.

Moon joins Venus in Libra, bringing us grace and poise as we deal with challenging situations. Combining harmoniously with Neptune’s soothing spiritual energy, the planet of love and relating says ‘don’t sweat the small stuff’ (or the big stuff). Find the beauty in even the most awkward situations.

The Moon (emotions)  squares Pluto (the destroyer)  this weekend, so there could be emotional standoffs (again) and knee-jerk reactions or  feeling controlled or manipulated. Then on Monday it hits Saturn and some of us will feel a bit stuck in feelings we can't express. This can add more pressure to an already loaded situation.

Like I said...walk away Rene" and let Venus help smooth the way.

“Pleasant manners succeed, even with difficult people.”      (#10. Treading. I Ching)

And if you can’t be nice, be quiet!!  Did your mother ever say that? (mine did)   It’s bloody good advice right now. As the war-mongers gather steam, yet again, every one of us needs to hold a space for peace on this planet.

We can only do that if we are connecting to peace within ourselves.

There are so many triggers and challenges right now.  You may inadvertently step on the toes of people who are itching for a good ol’ fight.

Don’t get sucked in.   Hold your head up; take the high road. Please!

Mars in tension with Saturn means many of our reactions and immediate plans will be thwarted anyway, so why waste the time on a fight when you know its not worth it. Sometimes it really is better to walk away (so you can return to fight another day!)

Remember, the shaking down is only there to release  what we don’t need anyway, and it is part of the mental/emotional/physical/spiritual (yup…all of it) healing needed on our planet and in our lives.

The Grand Trine in Water signs continues to encourage the development of emotional intelligence. Get in touch with what’s really going on within you. This is really the whole thing right now. Saturn in Scorpio will help with that. Its position at the North Node(destiny Point) shows that it is all our clear old emotional baggage and dysfunctional belief systems so we can truly step into being in our magnificence.

Neptune in Pisces is helping as it both brings up and washes away our traumas. There are waves of Mercy here. And so much love.

Jupiter in Cancer expands that nurturing great mother that holds us and rocks us. It will bestow grace and a nurturing presence into the most strife filled situations.

Venus in Libra brings beauty and grace through our creative self expression…

As my friend Lina would say… 'It's all good!'

Yes, even the breakdowns and even the trauma. We are moving through and out of some very entrenched energies that have operated on planet earth for a very long time, and each of us is clearing our own personal version. This truly is the cusp of a new era, and as the saying goes, 'it is always the darkest before the dawn.'

Yet there is always light shining … within. That is where the comfort lies. That is what is real.
A new day is dawning and we are part of making it happen. It starts with me and it starts with you.
Every day.

I wish you peace!

Sun and Mercury in Virgo: Get with the Program!

We are now in the season of Virgo, where details and focus bring us out of summer's slower pace into the approaching autumnal focus on of work and activity. We continue to have some pretty spectacular astrology in the skies above us. Right now, Mars (action) in fiery Leo is picking up the pace, while Sun Mercury in persnickety Virgo wants us to get with the program.

We have come through some pretty powerful events these last couple years, and the pressure to transform and  change continues.

The Grand Sextile/Star of David formation  is active again this weekend as two Grand Trine formations overlap each other. This auspicious combination of planets is a sign of  grace and mercy at work in the universe. It is telling us that we will get through these times if we focus and ground our energy (earth), while allowing for the fluidity of deep feelings (water) to guide us through the changes that are afoot.

A Grand Trine is made up of three planets all in equal, 120 degree angles from each other. A trine is considered an easy flow of energy where the planets involved work together harmoniously.

Part of astrology deals with where planets are in the sky, as defined by the sign that governs each area (like Virgo or Scorpio etc).

The second part is about the angles or spaces between the planets. These angles create energy patterns, or grids, that set off harmonious or tense reverberations throughout our galaxy, which then impact us here on earth.

Our birth chart, determined for the exact moment, day and place we emerged from the womb, depicts these patterns as a particular energetic map of the planetary energies on that day. That chart is also divided into sections called houses, and planets in houses show specific areas of activity effected by that planets energetic blueprint.

Then on any given day,  planets passing through a similar area of your chart can set off whatever they come into contact with. For example, if Saturn is passing through the area that your moon sits in, you may feel a bit down or more pessimistic than usual. A seriousness will overtake you and it will take more effort than usual to reach out and have fun.

There are pluses and minuses for every aspect, and each of us react differently to them all. Our birth chart shows our basic patterns of behaviour, which in turn will show how we may react to these passing influences. Saturn can be a downer sometimes in its seriousness ands focus on duty, yet it also brings maturity and a sense of responsibility that will serve us in accomplishing our goals.

Phew!! It’s a lot isn’t it? Much more than the trite comments in the Astrology column of today’s paper!

If you are doubting the energetic blueprint part of this, go to to hear the sound of Pluto as recorded by Nasa. (the recorded electric magnetic frequencies have been converted to sound) There are links to other plants as well.

Have you ever heard the term “Music of the Spheres”?
It’s a symphony of epic proportions and we are just a spec in this grand design.

And we specs do feel and react to these frequencies, whether we are conscious of it or not (perhaps like a dog responding to a high pitched whistle that most people cannot hear, some of us are tuned in to these frequencies more than others)

How the planets frequencies interact with each other
(determined by the mathematical angles)  creates energetic patterns, which can trigger a range of moods, feelings, reactions etc.  We can study these patterns and frequencies to understand what energies are affecting us at any given moment, and that study totally fascinating (if you are so inclined, as I am)

Take today’s symphony. It has both discordant and harmonious melodies going on simultaneously, all playing at high volume and triggering all manner of calamities and joys and everything in between..

The tense angles are highly revolutionary and rebellious, wanting transformation and change and ready to throw out the old order.

The ones which contain ease and flow are helping us deal with the tense aspects, providing  avenues for creativity and harmonious expression that will offset to some degree, some of the harsh aspects that are now working to shake up this planets.

The Grand Sextile provides a harmonious grounding that beckons us to walk our talk and put our inner visions into view and into practise.

The current breakdown - shakedown energies are working to remove old, rotting structures and systems that can no longer support us. This pruning is not always pretty, yet once the debris is cleared, there will be fresh ground available for a new era based on (hopefully) more enlightened values ( as compared to greed, power over and might-is-right)

If some of these profoundly  radical  influences are hitting your own chart (and thus life) directly, you are in the cross-hairs of this transforming energy. Know that this process is truly for your betterment and growth(though it probably doesn’t feel like it) and there will be blessings and respite once the dust settles.

Till then, hang on and enjoy the ride!

I am adding some stories slowly but surely in the Personal Peeks tab above to demonstrate just how devastating as well as transformative these energies can be.

We are all being pushed to step beyond the know reality we have built our life upon as Pluto in Capricorn dismantles the structures and systems of an ailing planet. Chiron and Neptune in Pisces bring healing and solace as our vulnerabilities surface.

Saturn in Scorpio sits close to the Destiny Point (North Node of the Moon) showing us that this the time to step up to the plate. The theme is ‘take responsibility for your own life', face whatever is stopping you from being the best that you can be, forgive yourself and others you blame for your apparent failures, and claim the Mastery that Saturn wants to bestow on you for your hard work and effort.

We are the ones we have been waiting for!
