New Moon in Taurus: Planting seeds of Intention
Yesterday we had a powerful New Moon in the sign of Taurus (May 16th). New Moons represent reset points ~ as the Sun joins with the Moon in a sacred marriage (conjunctio) that invites us to plant seeds for the next cycle. New Moons equal new beginnings, with this one is especially potent due to the proximity of Uranus (the Awakener). Uranus is the planet of the electricity, of intuition, the higher mind and also rules the future;a ctivating change through sudden shifts, shocks, and shake ups.
Although the New Moon is in slow n steady Taurus, Uranus has moved a few degrees forward into the airy sign of Gemini. Gemini is ruled by Mercury (the mind) and Uranus there can stimulate both our mental processes and our nervous system in powerful ways. As we are still adapting to this up-shift in energy, it is really important to stay centred and grounded as everything continues to accelerate. Uranus was slowed down somewhat by earthy Taurus, yet now in air sign Gemini things can speed up quite rapidly.
Uranus 'rules' Aquarius, and as it happens, its fellow revolutionary Pluto is currently retrograde in that sign. This suggests we may experience some powerful endings, AHA moments or deep shifts in the way we act or think.
“Pave paradise ~ put up a parking lot”
Pluto takes us into that deep realm and in Aqaurius has a strong influence on the collective psyche. This New Moon, by nature of Uranus natural 'home' in Aquarius, links to the god of the underworld. Pluto rules the root chakra and connects us to death/rebirth and our core survival mechanisms. With Pluto retrograde at the moment, we are turned back on ourself, increasing the possibility to encountering the shadow realms amidst the deeper levels of our psyche.
In Aquarius, this brings up how we function in groups and its presence can activate the collective shadow, mob mentality or perhaps the way we sell our soul to fit in. Pluto’s ultimate function is to transform and regenerate, and in the sign of Aquarius it will be regnerating society. We are winessing efforts towards power over the people (old paradigm) yet in the end it will help us to claim our power (power to the people). Pluto in Aquarius plans to bring significant changes to humanity and some of that will involve shocks, surprises and sudden endings.
Enter Uranus!
Uranus representing the coming new age, is a renegade and a rebl who shakes us up through sudden events and awakenings. Its purpose is to accelerate our progress.
Pluto (god of the underworld) is about shadow, survival, power, and the hidden realms; it works through death and transformation, stripping us down to make way for new growth. In Aqaurius Pluto can activate mass hypnosis, collective grief, fears of annihilation.
While Uranus has our energy systems so highly charged, the Sun in Taurus can help us to ground and keep our feet on the earth. And this is the time to do just that ~ walk barefoot, hug a tree, spend time in nature. In the midst of so much external stimulation, we must stay present with ourself and our bodies. Venus, the ruler of Taurus, and thus this New Moon, is in changable, airy Gemini, adding to the sense of change and unpredicatbility. Gemini (an air sign) tis infinitely curious and highly communicative (they do like to talk). This is a potent time for social exchanges yet as everything is somewhat extreme right now, it is easy to overdo or get overloaded.
If you are feeling vulnerable, it is important to focus on self care and staying well grounded and well resouced. Let mother earth cradle you in her arms.
This New Moon is a rebirth and a resest ... we are planting seeds for the future (Uranus) in the rich Taurus earth ~ right now the power of intention is especially strong.
This is a time to reset, repattern, and retrain our thinking as well as our nervous systems. We can harness the highly charged energy field of this New Moon ... but thats where the grounding come in~ Uranus acts as a lightning bolt... and it is very easy right now to get short circuited. I am enjoying a workshop with Lee Harris (Empowered Sensitives), where they are teaching techniques to discharge excess energy and dysregulation - with techniques to rebalance our system.
We have just learned about 'SHYT': which stands for Shake ~ Hum ~ Yawn ~ Tickle as a way to smooth out our 'vagal tone. The vagus nerve gets triggered into fight or flight by the alarm bells of amygdala... our protective energy system. It is suggested we do one minute (or more) the following:
Shake it out (animals go into tremor mode after a shock/like being chased by a lion) they shake it off.
Hum a tune, or a note... like OM ...resets the vegus nerve. Hmmmm. Ahhhh...Oooh etc
Yawning releases built up tension (especially in the jaw).
Tickle is basically a gentle touch/tingling the skin of the face with finger tips. Feels lovely and soothing.
EFT tapping is another excellent way to settle your nervous system. Sonya Sophoa is my favourite online tapper, though there are many. Tapping anywhere on the body can be effective, and you can research the specific acupunture points to tap on online. Whatever your modality (art making, singing, writing, yoga etc) the mainpoint is to take a moment to rest and reset.
And of coure, the breath is a most powerful regulator. Start with that. Deep breath in, deep breath out. And repeat.
Taurus wants us tap into our bodies through touch, taste, smell and sensual pleasure, walks in nature, enjoying art, beauty, music ~ all will help move us from fight or flight into FLOW.
May this Taurus Moon bring you appreciationg, abundance and stability in an unstable world; and help you manifest a new vision (Uranus in Gemini) and way of being on here. Let's enjoy this beautiful planet we live on. And as we take a moment to slow down and set our intentios and goals, let's start with gratitude for all the beauty that in us and around us. Blessings abound!
We are here to more than survive, we are here to thrive.
Plant your seeds of intention in the fertile soil of Taurus ... for the good of all.
