New Moon ~ New Moment ~ New Choice
The title of this post is one I often use at a New Moon ~ however it is particularly appropriate at this time. This Friday, April 17, 2026, the New Moon rises at 27°28’ of Aries—offering a quiet but powerful rebirth of the spirit. This is not simply the beginning of a lunar cycle; it is also the first New Moon of the new astrological year, where life itself leans forward and whispers: begin again.

Aries is the first spark of the zodiac, the essence of pure creation—the moment the soul chooses to incarnate, to act, to become. Aries is the beginning of it all. Under this New Moon, we are invited back to that original flame within us—the part that knows who we are before doubt, conditioning, and fear begin to interfere.
This cannot be a naïve beginning. With both Chiron, the wounded healer, and Eris, goddess of dischord, closely woven into this lunation, the path forward asks for honesty and truth telling. That's a lot to ask for in an era of fake news, deepfakes and pretty much fake everything. Yet what is being called for is deep, soul-level honesty that might bring us discomfort before it brings liberation.
The rare concentration of planets all together (Sun, Moon, Chiron, Eris, Mars, Saturn, Mercury, and Neptune)in Aries hugely increases that emphasis and calls out to the opposite sign of Libra to help balance the ariesw need for action, self-assertion, and decision-making by including Libra's awareness of the relational impact of our actions and choices.
In other words, look before you leap!
Chiron in Aries reveals potential wounds to the self and to our sense of agency. This New Moon opens a portal of healing through action. No more waiting, no more overthinking— time for choosing, moving, and daring to express what has long been held back. This healing moment is not passive; it requires acts of courage as a potentiall form of medicine.
To fulfill this healing potential, we will need to understand the difference between courage and bravado. (we only need to look at world events to see the difference)
As the Aries Sun burns away the fog that Pisces has had us in for the last year, Eris in Aries is here as a truth teller and potential disruptor. There may be moments where standing for truth feels inconvenient and chaotic. Perhaps we have a history of being punished for speaking up. Yet this is where our power lies. Eris does not allow silence where authenticity is needed, and while Chiron reminds us that our wounds are not weaknesses—they do still need to be acknowledged ~ after which they can become doorways to new wisdom and wholeness.
"There is a crack, a crack in everything / That's how the light gets in" (Cohen)
S/he who hesitates is lost'.
For those with planets or angles in the later degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn—or the early degrees of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius—this New Moon could feel especially pressured and potent. You may findyourself at a personal crossroads, where old patterns of hesitation, self-doubt, or avoidance can no longer follow you forward. This is a moment of realignment.
We are being asked to release old identities shaped by fear or trauma ~ to step more fully into our true authentic Self—the self that acts from inner knowing rather than external validation. This self trusts its instincts. This self is willing to begin, even when there are no guarantees.
Welcome to the Aries ignition point.
A quiet fire is being lit within us. Y\The question is: Will we honor it?
At this sacred threshold, our intentions will carry us forward into the rest of the year. Set your course and let it be so. Jupiter and Pluto guarantee combustion, and the potential for volatility requires a steady hand. Consider the future wisely. The fire we are lighting is a fuse that won't fizzle out. Remember that fire burns. As things accelerate, we will look back and remember this moment.
Choose to choose, or choose not to choose, but choose all the same.
You know you want to.
