Full Moon Leo: Shine your light
The Full Moon today is shining on us from the wonderful sign of Leo, with a stellium (several planets) clustering around the Sun opposite in Aquarius. This very potent Full Moon brings us breakthroughs, creativity, self-expression, and power/bravadoas it calls us to uplift others through your own authentic self-expression.
This Moon brings to a head so much of what occurred in January ~ a very intense month with energetic zaps coming at us from all directions. From solar flares to interstellar comets to the cluster of planets travelling first through Capricorn and now Aqaurius all bumping into Pluto (the destroyer). A cluster f#ck.
The quality of time ahead in February is equally intense, charged and unpredictable, with many turning points and major astrological events: Saturn enters Aries, a solar eclipse occurs in Aquarius, and Saturn joins Neptune in Aries on the Aries Point. Uranus (the awakener) will turn direct then enter Gemini (the quickening), and before it does, it's stationary position (appears to sit in one spot) in Taurus ~ carries the potential to disrupt financial markets.
Pluto intensifies and concentrates whatever it comes into contact with ~ so each energy has been magnified ~ with their proximity to each other amplifying the effects. We can expect much restlessness, chaotic developments and sudden turns.
Tension has been building towards today’s powerful Full Moon in Leo as the planets in Aqaurius each bump into Pluto (the destroyer) bringing the potential for accidents, conflicts, and even violence, breakdowns and breakthroughs. If you are feeling irritable, pent-up energy, headaches etc its important finding a healthy outlet for this intensity. Dancing, drumming, grounding in nature. Chop wood, carry water. Speaking of water ~ drink lots of it to cool down your system and keep things flowing.Chaos is the birth of creativity!
Pluto’s transformative, shamanic energies will be shifting us in profound ways that could trigger a healing crisis as the Full Moon peaks. If you feel like you’ve got an emotional hangover from January, this could be your medicine.
This Full Moon might trigger profound polarity, and in an already polarized world we are being called to find some sembalnce of balance. We may have to choose between the head and heart, and between the urge for self assertion and the need to think of others.
With all the chaos and madness going on in the world ~ it is vitally important to keep an open heart (Leo) and seek inner peace; the Collective Destiny Point in Pisces calls us toward compassion, connection and care and surrender to a higher power, All That Is. To understand Unity Consciousness is our true destiny, with all the chaos a gift in disguise as it calls on us to find our bigger self.
Today (Feb 1st/ /2nd is also Imbolc ~ the midpoint between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox. We’re halfway to spring! (or close to it - the actual midpoint is Feb 4th) At Imbolc, a candle is lit to bring us comfort in the long dark days of midwinter. In NA, Groundhog Day (tomorrow) marks the same, with the hope of spring on everyone's minds. If the groundhog sees its shadow there will be six more weeks of winter. With Pluto dominating this Full Moon, that symbolism is especially poignant. Mars/Pluto can be agitated, violent or controlling, yet can also bring breakthroughs and shifts where we are feeling stuck. We get to choose ~ although shadow elements are notoriously difficult to admit/acknowledge/integrate.Did you ever see the fiolm Caddyshack where Bill Murry's character almost goes insane trying to get rid of the resident groudhog? Those shadow elements just keep coming back!!
How perfect that the Leo Full Moon calls us to shine our light into the world and blast away the shadows, calling us to step into our authentic self. It is time to claim our personal sovereignty and celebrate our unique gifts ~ then offer them up in service to the whole.
Leo is a fire sign (passionate) ruled by the Sun, associated with warmth, passion, leadership, and creative expression. Leo rules the heart.
Aquarius, opposite Leo, is an air sign (detached) linked to outside the box innovation, community, and our unique individuality, and the sign of the New Age we are entering.
Key Themes and Energies of the Full Moon in Leo:
Express yourself: Leo’s energy encourages boldness in showing our true self, artistic pursuits, and playful creativity.
Confidence and Courage: (‘Cour’ means heart ~ Leo rules the heart) Isn’t it time to step into the spotlight and embrace your unique talents? Leo wants us to celebrate our personal achievements/gifts/skills.
Heart-Centered Connections: With Leo’s connection to the heart, we are also called to express warmth, generosity, and heartfelt relationships.
Balancing Individuality and Community : This signifies a push-pull between shining our light as an individual (Leo) and contributing to the greater good (Aquarius). Turns out we can do both!
Potential Effects and Opportunities:
Revelations and Clarity: Full moons bring things to a peak and illuminate what’s been hidden. We may gain insights into our own self-worth, passions, or leadership roles. What makes you tick? What shadow element holds you back? (fear, lack of self worth, hidden resentments, victimhood, arrogance etc etc etc)
Emotional Release: The Leo Full Moon can stir strong feelings of pride, joy, and/or vulnerability, this is a time for releasing what no longer serves our authentic self.
Pursue Passions:This is a perfect time to get going with creative projects, take risks in personal or professional life, and/or celebrate eqach other and how far we have come. We are only here a short time: make it count.
Compassionate Approach: Leo is a fire that can both burn and support
Channel Leo’s fire authentically without overshadowing others.
Use this energy to uplift and inspire your community, blending self-confidence with compassion.
Reflect on how your creative gifts contribute positively to the world.
This Leo Full Moon is so highly charged by Mercury,Venus, Mars and Pluto in Aquarius, we need to find a positive discharge for all this potent energy ~ possibly through singing/drumming/dancing/ moving/shaking/making love etc.
Move with, rather than against, the flow.
I did all of the above last night at a local musical gathering and it was glorious. And the night before was a concert with Judy Collins - a true herald of the Aquarian age. Judy is getting on in years (86) but her spirit shines on. That’s how you do it!
In this time of awakening, the Leo Full Moon sets the stage for huge shifts that are coming up in 2026. Speaking of stages, it’s time to know your part, take your role, make it yours. Find your self/your peace, then step onto the stage so you can shine your light into the world.
You know you want to!
