New Moon ~ New Moment ~New Choice
The New Moon in Capricorn this Sunday (Jan 18) offers a deep reset that is rooted in the Capricorn themes of purpose, integrity, and steady action. The symbol for Capricorn is the mountain goat who climbs to precarious mountain tops. If you have a project to begin or complete, now's the time to do it.
While Capricorns can have a serious, competitive and tenacious side that drives them forward, they often struggle with negativity. With Saturn the harsh task master as their ruler, they sometimes see the glass half empty, with a tendency to focus on insignificant difficulties instead of solutions. This leads them to constantly strive, yet never feel they arrive. Still, without Capricorns, nothing would ever get done in the world - they are the builders, the do-ers, the fixers of the world.
All hail Capricorn!
At this New Moon ~ the Sun and Moon together in Capricorn offer to illuminate the path forward; their joining creates a seed time where we set our intentions for not only the next month but for the coming year. Capricorn asks us to step into responsibility, embody our values, and commit to what truly matters. Its inherent drive to succeed means that whatever we focus on now will grow and thrive, though first we must work to harmonize the powerful forces at play.
With Venus and Mars together at the New Moon we can experience an inner balance between masculine and feminine. As the Sun illuminates and energies these two archetypes, Venus speaks to our capacity to give and receive love, while Mars calls us to move into right action. Mars acts goes after what it wants/desires. In this case what it desires is Venus (love or money) ... and our desire nature is ramped up and rather driven at this time - even more so with Jupiter opposite. Tension with Chiron (wounded Healer) may also stir up old wounds around love and/or getting what we want.
Yet there is healing at hand. The Sun/Moon as well as Venus/Mars represent the alchemical marriage of yin and yang, masc/fem that can heal and transform the old paradigms of conflict, fear and distrust ~ and turn them into the joy of right relationship, commitment and right action. Although Chiron in Aries is about the Wounded Masculine, Chiron brings healing energy that can help clear out inherited family patterns that go back generations (Jupiter in Cancer).
With Mars in Capricorn we must take responsibility for our actions. This New Moon is about moving from fear and survival based reactions into conscious, soul-directed manifestation.
With the powerful grouping of Sun/Mercury/ Venus/Mars in late Capricorn being amplified by Jupiter and sensitized by Chiron (wounded healer) something powerful is afoot and the inherent vulnerability here is pushing us to pay attention to emotional undercurrents. Jupiter in the sign of Cancer suggests family patterns and conditioning are at the root of most of our relationship dynamics ~ and Mars/Venus together (conjunctio) are calling for healing and integration of masculine and feminine.
We might consider our parents relationship in terms of the unconscious patterning we inherited ~ and that they inherited from their own families. This is about ancestral healing. Let there be light!
Capricorn is also associated with the patriarchy ~ the more masculine, power based hierarchical system that have pitted the masculine against the feminine and used power and control to maintain dominance. This system is now breaking down (darkest before the dawn?) and part of that is seeing it for what it is, warts n all. Facing the faults in the system bring an opportunity to face those same patterns in ourselves ~ so we can do the work (Capricorn) to shift unconscious patterns. What we shift on the inside will then manifest on the outside.
As within, so without.
Mars is the god of war and Venus is the goddess of love. Let love win! Use this rare and profound moment to alchemize healing on a deep level. What we plant now can grow into new beginnings. Time for something completely different!
And despite appearances, human beings thrive (and survive) via
co-operation, rather than conflict. That idea is being put to the test
right now as warrior planet Mars is ramped up by Jupiter. Remember to stay in the light.
Let your heart rule.
You know you want to! :)
