Full Moon in Capricorn

Today (Thurs July 10th) we had a Full Moon  in the earth sign of Capricorn ~ with the Sun sitting opposite in the water sign of Cancer. Capricorn is pragmatic and practical ~ while Cancer is deeply emotional and highly sensitive.  The Sun represents yang masculine energy, and the Moon is our more yin, feminine side. These two beautiful luminaries are also linked with the archetypes of father (Capricorn ) and mother (Cancer).

This Full Moon is reversing and balancing these polarities; the  yang energy of the Sun sits in the more yin sign of Cancer ~ and must learn how to feel, while the more emotional feminine (receptive) Moon gets lessons from Capricorn about persistence, commitment and strength.  Capricorn is a 'get er done sign'; its symbol is a mountain goat who climbs higher and higher. Capricorn  is all about drive and productivity, and this Full Moon will be helping us tap into the discipline, boundaries, and commitments we need to get results. This Moon acknowledges our hard won efforts,  while Cancer sympathizes with what you've been through and what you're feeling.

With Saturn the ruler of today’s  Full Moon ~ all things Saturn are in focus. In just a few days  this representative of karmic lessons will be turning backward ~  and its energy will be reversed.  When planets appear to be moving backwards (from the vintage point of earth)  the energy of the planet becomes more inwardly focused, turning us back ourself.  Saturn both acknowledges and rewards the progress we have made so far, as well as pushes us to make even more effort to keep moving forward. With Saturn retrograde, we can take time to reflect on our progress so far and pause to review steps we have already  taken, and those we still need to take. For some,  things may slow down for a while, and all the efforts we have made may seem to be in vain. Don't lose heart... in a few months, when Saturn turns direct, we will again start to move forward and realise that it all had a purpose. This doesn't mean everything we plan and do will come to a stop ~  although there may be obstacles in our path that make us slow down and  pay closer attention.

Neptune is recently retrograde, Saturn is slowing down now to reverse direction on Saturn,  and Mercury will turn around on July 17th. That's a lot of  inward facing energy at time when other planets are shifting and pushing us forward at mach speed. Jupiter has now shifted into Cancer (big emotions) , Uranus has moved into Gemini (higher mind) , and earlier this year Pluto moved into Aquarius (radical social change and power struggles).  Outer planets move very slowly so represent generational shifts, yet  this amount/depth of change has not occurred all at once in all of recorded history/herstory. And while this acceleration  heralds a period of rapid change and accelerated growth, it seems perfect that there could be some checks and balances put in place and we move into the second half of the year.  While things are speeding up and leaping forward, these retrograde energies will help us to slow down and review our plans before  taking those quantum leaps that are coming our way.  Its been a wild ride so far, and the circus doesn't seem to be letting up, so best use these retrogrades to become more conscious of who we are, what we are doing here and how we are doing here (here being  life on planet earth).

Saturn is also called the time lord - and rules- you guessed it- the passage of time.

"Do you live for today or do you live for tomorrow? " Prem Rawat

Saturn and Jupiter squared have created a deep pressure to balance the urge to expand and the need to contract. They are very different energies:  Jupiter is hopeful and optimistic, while Saturn tends to be pessimistic and full of fear. Jupiter sees possibilities, Saturn limitations. Negotiating these opposite drives has been quite a dance, yet in the process we are working out what is most important. And what works and what doesn't. An analogy came to mind of of making bread: you add the yeast which expands the dough (Jupiter),  then at a certain point, you punch it down (Saturn). Then again the dough rises, and then you punch it down again. This expansion and contraction build up the elasticity in the dough and when its ready you let it rise one last time and then bake it in the oven. The result - something yummy and nutritious to eat.

I just came across this quote right after I wrote that...

•Any process we observe is the product of competing forces balancing each other out to an equilibrium point.
•While it is sometimes possible to shift the equilibrium point, in most cases, systems will typically return to their equilibrium point.
•While the equilibrium sometimes rapidly re-establishes itself, it can often take decades, if not centuries, to do so. When viewed over time, these forces propagate across generations and eventually return to their equilibrium.

May we all find balance and equilibrium in our lives and in our selves. And may we all find the best way forward (even if it begins with retreat)

The massive amount of craziness in the world right now can make one want to give up, switch off, stop trying, yet Jupiter is ever hopeful , and Saturn says that every effort we make can have a long term benefit. This Full Moon is about finding the perseverance and persistence  to keep going, even when times are tough. These are powerful times and the shadows are dense, yet the light shines bright on the other side of those clouds. Never give up hope!

Know who you are. Be who you are. Act from that place of knowing.

It ain't over till its over.

Blessed Be.
