Full Moon in Aries: Make Love not War!

We've moved from the Autumn Equinox to a beautiful Full Moon in Aries on Sunday night (Oct 9).

Moon in Aries and Sun in Libra represent a polarized dance between self and other. At all Full Moons  there is polarity  -  in Aries/Libra - relationship dynamics are highlighted. The  theme of this Aries Full Moon is around healing our relationships, starting with our relationship to our own self. As the Moon joins Chiron ~ the wounded healer ~  vulnerabilities can surface. While we need a strong sense of self (Aries), we also need each other (Libra) As the Full Moon shines its light on our relationship patterns, there is a focus on healing wounds to the self (Chiron) . For we cannot truly love another if we do not love our self. Sounds so cliche', yet is a deeper reality than we may like to admit.  Chiron with the Full Moon offers a possibility of deep healing and renewal so we can relate to each other in a healthier way. This may mean facing some sort of pain or wounding we have been carrying around feeling worthy or lovable. We  all seek love in so many places, yet true self worth must come from within.

When Aries’ fierce warrior-like independence comes to meet Libra’s  need for peace, harmony and connection, compromise will be necessary. In finding the path to peace, it is not about  relinquishing our own identity to keep someone else happy, nor is it imposing our own needs over others. Instead, if  we can find ways to state our feelings and our needs humbly and openly, and be ready to listen to the other person as they do the same, we can often find middle ground. Everybody hurts. And everybody shines (both in good measure). I just went through some intense exchanges recently (thank you Mars in Gemini) and what I notice is how hard it is to just state feelings and needs,  without getting aggressive and resorting to name calling, blaming and shaming. I've been both the receiver as well as the giver, so I am pointing no fingers. We hurt ourselves and each other without even meaning to (ok sometimes we mean to) ... but most often people lash out in pain and frustration or unleash pent up resentments that have been left unspoken for too long.

I think a lot of times, it is due to not having had our needs met when we were younger; we internalized feelings of unworthiness, so now think we have to fight to get what we need. This deeply  unconscious process  needs to be faced and worked with to untangle the pattern (Chiron in Aries). Learning to express our feelings and needs is an art form in itself; I've been studying Non-violent Communication by Marshal Rosenburg,  and he teaches wonderful ways to achieve good communication. Easier said than done -  yet this Full Moon in Aries beckons us to take the first step.

The Moon just passed by Jupiter, adding joy and hope to our healing process.  Something important is ready to be felt, seen and understood so we can do better. I know we can do better cause it cant get much worse lol.

And just to make it all so much more fun, Pluto - lord of the underworld turned direct today - after being retrograde for several months. This adds to the intensity of the moment and can trigger deep survival needs as well as power struggles. Pluto is even more potent right now as the the ruler of the South Node/Collective Destiny point in Scorpio. Scorpio, and Taurus opposite, where the North Node currently besides,  are said to be the Survival Axis' -  also is called the 'Money Axis.'  With Uranus (the Awakener)  still very close to the North Node/Destiny Point in Taurus, financial markets are fluctuating wildly and threaten to continue to do so. This can make anyone feel insecure and definitely stirs up survival fears. Add that to the general politics, wars, post covid debt, shortages, supply chain issues etc. and October is fulfilling its prediction of being  the most stressful month of this year!

Soon - many of the currently retrograde planets will start to turn direct, and a few will change signs, so things will begin to shift. Hopefully that won't have us jumping from the frying pan into the fire!

Lets face it - these are challenging times - and it looks like that isn't going to change anytime soon. We  sit on the cusp of a new age.  New beginnings are fraught with uncertainty,  and this is no different. The old order is dying, but it's not going down without a fight.  So we have to choose our battles,  and find peace in the midst of the madness. Start with gratitude. This is our Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada... a time to stop and appreciate what we Do have. There is much to be grateful for.

Venus, planet of love, sits with the Sun at this Full Moon, reminding us that Love is all!  Not just romantic love ~ or sexual love ~ but Higher Love. Infinite Love. Divine Love. Our very essence. That's the core message of this Full Moon and its worth hanging onto.  May a healing balm of love and harmony help you overcome those niggling doubts (and help you avoid the urge to pick a fight). You ARE worthy of love. So are they. We are All worthy of love.
