From Darkness to Light Feb 2020

Hello friends!  It has been a while so this will be a bit of a catch up - get your cuppa tea ready. I'm going to break it up into two parts.  (you can go to the Aurum Astrology FB page for shorter  updates)

Something cool I learned today: Deus" or 'god' literally means "the shiny one", or "shine"

As it says in the heading: Aurum is Latin for Gold - the symbol of which is the same as for the Sun in astrology (circle with a dot in the centre).  Sun/Gold/Aurum represent our true inner self, our inner and outer light. These allusions to the alchemical process  are apt for  the current narrative.   The Sun in Aquarius  recently aligned with Saturn,  marking  a process that  transforms lead (Saturn) to gold (Sun). If you add Mercurious (quicksilver) to Pluto (death, destruction, the blackening) it brings about a Quickening (awakening); resulting in a profound period of transformation.

Sun/Gold/Leo - rule the heart. The current zeitgeist is about healing and raising the human consciousness ~ taking us to the next level  ~ to personal sovereignty. We are now at the transition between the blackening... and the quickening. Lead into gold. The old into the new.

We are golden. And we've got to get back to the garden...

We just passed Imbolc ~ the halfway mark between the winter solstice and the spring equinox on Feb 1/2 (this year it was exact on Feb 6). Imbolc means mothers milk- this day is also called Candlemas or St Brigids day. In North America it is Groundhog day. All of these link to this being a turning point in the cold and dark when we are hoping for spring to arrive. If the ground hog sees its shadow- or the celtic hag gathers lots of wood, it means winter will continue for 6 more weeks. There's a kind of interesting parallel here with the Persephone story I will go into next post; seems everything these days has a bit of shadow in it.

At Candlemas we light a candle to chase away the dark...  we set prayers and intentions as we wait for spring. This theme kind of mirrors the current point we are at with the pandemic. Omacron  has been milder in general, and many are hoping it marks the end of the virus's impact. But we cannot know that for sure , and even though things are opening up in many places, there's a feeling of caution and reserve.

Today, despite the shadows still lurking,  we get some upliftment from the Moon  in easy flow with both Jupiter and Neptune (Cancer to Pisces) and although  Pluto opposite warns of continuing intensity (more in next post) Jupiter and Neptune bring feelings of joy and hope.  This is an especially good day to attune to your soul.  Mercury with Pluto (conscious awakening) indicates many secrets may be coming to light; continue to question everything. On a soul level, what is truly real must cannot be understood with the logical mind... it can only be felt. We must dive deep into the depths to make contact with our essence; it is far more than the eye can see or the mind can fathom. Sometimes we just have to sit in the dark and wait for the light.

I said to my soul, be still, and wait without hope
For hope would be hope for the wrong thing; wait without love,
For love would be love of the wrong thing; there is yet faith
But the faith and the love and the hope are all in the waiting.
Wait without thought, for you are not ready for thought:
So the darkness shall be the light, and the stillness the dancing.

― T.S. Eliot

Speaking of sitting in the darkness, Venus has been on a dark retrograde/descent and is now rising early as the morning star. She is now catching up lost ground and travelling alongside  Mars - with both heading toward a confrontation with Pluto (eek). This will mark a significant turning point in any unresolved relationship issues... Pluto brings change and transformation. If we are willing to face the shadows (what we don't want to look at) it should bring whatever comes up to a head and help clear the air. Something or someone may be left behind once and for all. More on this next time.

Up next: A powerful Full Moon in Leo  this Thurs January 17th.  Get ready to shine!
