Today is a New Moon in Scorpio. New Moment ~ New choice.
The days are getting shorter and darker as we head into the winter months... Scorpio activates our unconscious survival fears and brings us face to face with the shadow side of life, pushing us toward the things we tend to ignore or avoid looking at. It rules secrets, sexuality, survival and has the ability to take us beneath the surface to see whats really going on. Not everyone wants to go there - yet this Scorpio Moon will bring up those issues even if we prefer it didn't. It interesting that a New Moon is actually not visible in the sky until tomorrow or the next day. This adds to the feeling that what is operating behind the scenes, yet is not obvious, has more power and influence than we know.
A New Moon is a seed time and the intentions we plant now will come to a peak in six months at the next Scorpio Full Moon. If you have changes you want to make, this is definitely an excellent time to set them in motion. Uranus, planet of radical adjustment, sits exactly opposite this Sun Moon conjunction... bringing the need for change into the current time frame and stirring up chaotic, exciting and possibly unsettling shifts for anyone who has planets near 12 degrees of either sign. Uranus (the Awakener) wants to pull the curtain aside and reveal what we have not been seeing. This marks a fork in the road moment for Scorpios and a turning point for many. Uranus is also innovative, original, a fierce independent who's middle name is Freedom. This New Moon Energy can really help us break out of stuck situations and awaken us from unconscious habits and patterns. This is when you may suddenly decide to make that decision that has been brewing in the wings for a long time; Mars Pluto recently pushed us to the edge ~ Uranus is telling us to jump!
Both Taurus and Scorpio are linked to survival: Taurus is our physical survival, Scorpio is more psychological. Taurus is an earth sign that represents our
assets, resources, money, and personal values ... it is our security zone and
our creature comforts. Scorpio sitting opposite calls us to jump into the deep waters of shared resources
and experiences (like sex) that lead us out of our safety zones into union with others. Taking risks opens us to new influences which can be scary, and Scorpio is also by nature suspicious and wary, though strongly driven to connect. Our relationships and social interactions will be affected ... as the urge for change (Uranus) threatens the status quo (Saturn). Taurus by nature is slow and steady, but with Uranus there all bets are off.
At the same time these are both 'fixed' signs- they don't like change
and are
stubborn as hell, creating tension between the urge to move and the
desire to stay still. And with Mercury (thinking communicating) in
tension with Pluto, those who are naturally suspicious, even paranoid,
wont be
easily trusting that exhortation to jump! Mercury Pluto is prone to
confronting people and calling their bluff, so all of this will
accentuate the polarity between those who push and those who resist. See
what a fix we are in!
Basically it all boils down to this: we can operate
from a place of trust, or one of fear.
This Scorpio New Moon is urging us to step outside the safety zone, to step out of the shadows. Its symbols are the Eagle, the Scorpion and the Phoenix ~ who rises out of the ashes again and again. If
you like a little mystery and mayhem, and just a touch of the taboo,
you've probably got a strong Scorpio element in your chart.
It's no mistake that Samhain, Halloween, and Day of the Dead all occur at this time of year. The veils are thin and the spirits and ancestors are wandering. We can use our Scorpio skills to honour them as we feel inwardly for signs and messages. They (spirits) are the reminder that life is temporary and there are worlds beyond this.

New possibilities beckon with Uranus opposite Scorpio sparking our curiousity and helping us think outside the box. This also brings a heightened intuition that can help us navigate any unsettling energies and events that may be threatening our sense of security and stability. In the midst of massive global uncertainty and upheaval, this New Moon brings a combination of deep insight and inspiration that can help us navigate such unusual times. The trick is to ride the current even as we ground and harness it. The ultimate lesson of Scorpio is to surrender to being transformed ... whatever layer is being removed, its only to make us lighter. Time to turn and face the shadows that we've been running from. That itself an act of power - face your fear and do it anyway. You know you want to!
