Happy  Equinox

 The Autumn Equinox (equal day and night) occurs as the Sun slips into the sign of Libra (represented by the scales) . This is a time to pause ~ find our centre ~ balance extremes.

 

If you reside in the Northern Hemisphere, this is the fall or autumn equinox.  For people south of the equator, this equinox signals the coming of spring. The length of day will vary a little depending on where you are of course.

I haven't been posting much on here for the last six months ~ between Crazy Covid, the passing of my mother, and traveling to join my siblings to pack up the family home,  I've been a bit distracted.  

 

What a year!  Such a powerful time for everyone ~  I know we all have our stories!

The 2020 Autumn  Equinox occurs as the Moon moves through the sign Sagittarius.  Sag is a storyteller extraordinaire - a grand adventurer and eternal seeker of truth.  There are big dramas and big stories (true and false) being played out on on planet earth!  Not unlike  other majour turning points in the human story ~ things are being shaken up and spun around at an alarming rate as we sit on the cusp of a new era.   The year began with a warning that this is a time of karmic reckoning (Saturn Pluto on the South Node of Moon) and it's been a crazy ride ever since. Sagittarius is about the long view - today's Moon can help us gain a broader perspective as we try to rise above the madness.

Today ~ as day and night balance each other  (equi - nox) we can benefit from taking a moment to pause and breathe and reconnect to who we are. When things are this intense we can get stuck in survival mode,  where its easy to lose sight of any sort of higher purpose.  Moon in Sagittarius is about the search for meaning, as well as the finding of it. We came from the stars and we will return there (wherever there is)... Sagittarius reminds us to seek for the true knowledge of self. Yet its symbol is a centaur: half-horse/half man,  carrying a bow and arrow.  The message is to honour and ground into our physical nature - yet not lose sight of our true humanity (hu means divine). We are a mix of both. So stay grounded but don't forget to aim for the stars. 

 

 

This is the Hero/Heroine's Journey. (If you haven't read Joseph Campbell I highly recommend you do). And in every grand adventure there are challenges and obstacles to be overcome.  There are such intense elements at work right now   shaking up our foundations and challenging our dearly held beliefs.

 

Everyone is testy and reactive - some are using this energy to stand up as social justice warriors- others become keyboard warriors. Social Media is nuts! Censorship is rife. Fake news abounds. Does it make you feel better knowing it is all written in the stars? Take the  the ongoing weirdness and distortions going on - they are basically down to Neptune's confusing influence.  Lines get blurred, facts get fiddled. Reality gets distorted. Check - check - check your facts. Question everything. Don't assume anything.

Then there is Mars -  the warrior planet ~ and his sister Eris the female warrior (minor) planet ~ the goddess of chaos and discord.  Both are  disruptive and fiery and hanging out together in their home sign of Aries stirring up trouble.  Mars is now heading backward to do it again. And again. Fights. Fires. Fury. F*ck! Everyone is fired up and ready for battle.And everyone thinks they're right.  Help!

And now Mercury has stepped into the fray. Mercury represents the mind - our thoughts and words. This quicksilver planet is in great tension with Mars at the moment (anger aggression conflict) and challenging Saturn Jupiter Pluto (fear dread amplification) all of which is  creating enormous mental pressure. People have been  reactive for quite a while now - and this could push some people over the edge. Mental health is not so healthy- and distortions and projections are everywhere.

Time to tune into a different channel?

 

Please use this Equinox moment to find equanimity in the midst of the madness. Don't let your thoughts eat you alive, and try (if you can) to avoid arguments. They are unlikely to be fruitful and you may  say things you will later regret.

And ~ in the midst of it all ~ A gift! Even in our greatest darkness ~ there is always hope.

And the healing power of love.  An aspect called a Finger of God (or yod)  ~ on this day of equanimity~ reminds us of a thing called Grace.  It involves Venus (love) Neptune (higher love) and Jupiter (joy). it is saying that these difficulties can bring out the best in us. The finger  is pointing to Venus in Leo - which is about Self worth. Self love. We are stardust ~ We are golden... 

Hang onto that. Trust in that. Know that!    Focus on that!

 

And if you have your Sun or other personal planets in the late degrees of Cancer - you will become the fourth corner of a Grand Cross configuration. This represents a kind of highly pressurized energy - like that which creates  a diamond. Hmmm  bit of a theme here. Diamonds and gold! Bejewel yourself?
