Merry Christmas everyone!

Did you know there is a solar eclipse today? Right now actually.

The Sun and Moon are aligning at 4 degrees Capricorn on the south Node (Past) and the Moon will eclipse the Sun  in the next hour. Exact at 9:17 PST, 10:17 MST, 12:17 EST, 5:17 and can be seen in Saudi Arabia, India, Sumatra, Borneo Asia.

A New Moon is a seed time when the energies of the Sun and Moon combine in a sacred marriage - their offspring are our intentions and prayers. As we set intentions  at the New Moon  - we also have a chance to release something that is no longer needed (Solar eclipse). This makes room for our intentions to manifest and allows old blockages to be removed.

Capricorn is about the rules and structures in our life. We may be living by internal codes of behavior that we inherited from the past - that are no longer relevant. Time for something completely different!

The Sun represents our more conscious, logical sense of self, while the Moon represents our more intuitive, emotional soulful self. When the Sun is eclipsed - we are called into the feeling realm-  where feelings and dreams are more important than hard cold facts.

Capricorn,  and it’s ruler Saturn , represent the material world, and the maturity and discipline required two fulfill our tasks and duties.  The Sun in Capricorn is status and career oriented, and driven towards success and material gain.  Even the less materialistic Capricorns still have a strong drive to accomplish and to get ‘er done.

Capricorn also represents the father, authority figures and systems of government.

With the eclipse occurring on the south node of the Moon - it indicates some aspect of the Capricorn archetype that is rooted in the past is ready to be released. Patriarchy is the belief that the masculine is superior to the feminine- and that hierarchical systems of power-over,  based on might-is-right - are the natural way of the world.

All that is changing now- the feminine is rising (after being kept down for thousands of years)  as we enter a new era. Just today I learned that a lot of our myths and imagery around Christmas comes from Neolithic legends of a 'Mother Christmas'. Ever wonder where the idea of flying reindeer came from?

"Long before Santa charioted his flying steeds across our mythical skies, it was the female reindeer who drew the sleigh of the sun goddess at Winter Solstice."

This is a fascinating read @ https://gathervictoria.com/2017/12/15/doe-a-deer-a-female-deer-the-spirit-of-mother-christmas/?fbclid=IwAR1ere_mNUOyQXf-cLUzFpFQI6AoijRP0obp3FZrTYsmecvVPKlEXNL5Mis

The gist is that the original Santa figure was a female, and like her-  many original goddesses have been buried and replaced by patriarchal power figures. If we strip away the years of suppression, we discover that ancient peoples revered  feminine archetypes and honoured the power of women. So what happened?

Well that is a long story,  and there's not space nor time for it here (and the formatting has gone wonky again). Needless to say - we are at the end of that era, and the feminine is rising. And we can be sure that the old order is not going to go without putting up a fight. But eventually (hopefully) it will wear itself out.

Capricorn represents the masculine systems that have been in power- the rules and regulations that governments and leaders have built up over millennia. Sitting  opposite Capricorn is the sign of Cancer - who represents the mother archetype. There is a collective need (NN) for emotional integration and healing, as we step up to challenge these old oppressive factors that have held us down for too long. Perhaps part of the message of this eclipse is that it is time to embrace a more loving caring approach to life, rather than the more left brain, competitive model that always leaves someone on the bottom. The idea here is not to erase the masculine,  but to place the two side-by-side. We are all in this together.

So what has this to do with the New Moon Solar eclipse you ask? What better time than at a New Moon- when Sun (masc) and Moon (feminine) are joined in a sacred union - to release the old baggage and allow for a more balance and healthy meeting of what are essentially two parts of us: the yin and yang, masculine feminine sides of our own nature.

The solar eclipse asks us to let go of old stereotypes and allow ourselves to tap into a different way of being. It says we can no longer do the same things in the same way.

This is a turning point. At the Winter Solstice we spiraled into the centre, and then, as the days gradually lengthen - we will slowly spiral out again. On the longest night and shortest day, the Sun appears to  pause as it hovers at the same spot for four days.  Then today - Christmas Day (Christ means Light) -  the days begin to get longer.

Just as that upward movement has begun, the solar eclipse is blotingt out the light of the Sun. As the  light, so newly returning,  is temporarily darkened, so too  hidden fears can arise out of the shadows. The world seems to have gone completely bonkers and it appears that the bad guys are winning (once again). I am not saying things aren't difficult or uncertain. But despite the difficulties, something is awakening. Change is afoot. Jupiter is right there with this eclipse brings good luck and abundance. It also marks endings - we are growing out of old situations. Whatever is 'up'  for you today might be an indicator of what you need to release.  This is about renewal and rebirth. The deeper message here is that even in our greatest darkness - the light is always shining deep within.

If you have access to your birth chart -  look to see what area of your chart the eclipse is occurring in. That will tell you where some sort of shift is required and is now possible. (If you don’t have a chart go to Astro.com and make one for free). See house tab at top of webpage for a description of each area of the chart.

So for example, I discovered that this solar eclipse is occurring in my 2nd House of personal worth, values and finances. As it happens, just this past summer - I had an AHA moment where I realized that at some point, possibly in a past life,  I had taken vows of poverty, and had carried them into this life. I have never had much money- nor have I really pursued acquiring it. That has been both a blessing and a curse,  and it is now time to try something different. Out with the old- in with the new!

I realized that this eclipse was the perfect time to do some sort of clearing exercise and to release these old vows, so tonight I did a wonderful clearing ritual i adapted from something i found online. I lit a candle, and some sage - did some smudging - and recited the following (you could use this as a template - just insert what it is you are releasing):

"I have come to understand that in the past, I committed to a Vow of Poverty (insert what ever it is for you - it doesnt have to be a vow- perhaps a pattern of though or a way of ehaving thatno longer serves you)

I have learned much from this Vow - it is taught me to live humbly and simply and to know that I am always completely taken care of, despite difficult circumstances. However, I now realize that this old Vow no longer serves me. (poverty is not especially noble and is highly overrated)

I now release this Vow from my energy field - and from my consciousness at all levels - as well as all the limitations that it has created in my life up to now.

I now fully embrace a new Vow of Abundance and of Joyful Living and Trust - and  incorporate it into my Beingness with ease and grace.

I ask my helpers and guides to bring the new energies of this vow of abundance into my life. I embrace the needed learnings and the wondrous changes that this new vow will bring into my life - with humility and gratitude.

I release the old and embrace the new. So be it, it is so."

Blessed Be ðŸ’•
