Halfway There! New Moon in Aquarius

The New Moon/Dark Moon today (Monday Feb 4)) begins a new lunar cycle -  occurring on the exact  halfway point between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox.  Imbolc/Candlemass/ Brigid's Day is called a cross quarter day, and stands as a significant signpost in our yearly journey from darkness to light.  Just six weeks to go folks!!

On  Groundhog Day in North America  (Feb 2nd) if the groundhog sees its shadow,  there will apparently be another six weeks of winter (the spring equinox).  Now we know where that six weeks comes from! Whatever you call it – this is a good day to light a candle and pray for spring!!

Brigid is the Celtic goddess of the hearth fire. While groundhogs and humans alike await those warming winds - we light a candle to keep away the dark - and  sing songs of hope and longing.

If Candlemas be fair and bright,
winter has another flight.
When Candlemas brings cloud and rain,
winter shall not come again.

Every month, when the New Moon shifts signs,  we get to link up with a new energy.  Last month was serious, conservative, dutiful Capricorn. Saturn's strong presence made it even more so.

Aquarius is anything but that! A  quirky, forward looking sign, Aquarius brings invention, originality, and out of the box thinking. This is a chance to rethink or re-purpose whatever is causing you grief, or even what's not!  Two eclipses in January began a chain reaction of  shifts and changes - now we have a chance to fine tune our intentions and make it so. Just don't expect things to move in straight line!

There may  still be obstacles in our way,  so we must tread carefully. If you have been hit with a wave of frustration and blockage recently - that was/is due to some rather intense planetary dynamics (Mars Uranus Saturn Pluto)  creating a lot of tension and  stress. Just as the powerful polar vortex is  bringing extreme cold and snow to the northern hemisphere, so too these planets can trigger a sense of misery, doom and gloom. Even if you are snug and warm - Saturn Pluto get you down even without trying.

Don't despair. This New Moon in Aquarius  brings in new energy to lighten the load and help us detach a bit from our troubles. It will help us take a good step back - get a more balanced overview - and new solutions will appear before we know it.   And while you wait patiently for things to turn around - Aquarius' wacky humour  adds comic relief from our struggle and strife.

He he :)

One more thing: With the focus right now on  the global human community (Aquarius) - it's not about you - or me - it's about us! This is about how we work together to make a better world. It's not just a New Moon in Aquarius - we are moving into the Age of Aquarius, and so far , it's not exactly been an easy transition (and we have just started!). The thing is , the old order has to die (Pluto in Capricorn) to make way for something new to take its place. It is up to us to make that happen.

Things are shaking up and will continue to do so. How we respond to that is the measure of how conscious we are and how much we are aligned with our true purpose (North Node Destiny Point).  The North Node right now is in Cancer - and speaks to the need for emotional intelligence. It's time we got some! And when you do get it - share it. You know you want to!
