Full Moon Eclipse in Leo: Keep Shining Your Light!

-->
On January 31, at 13:28 UT - Moon in Leo opposes  Sun in Aquarius - forming a Full Moon. It is also a lunar eclipse,  as the shadow of the earth comes between the Moon and the Sun  (10:51 - 16:08 UT).

This is a Total Eclipse and a  Super-moon  (closer to earth) -  a Blue Moon (2nd full moon in January) and a Blood Moon (the Moon will go blood red at full eclipse point). There's always so much hype around these labels - I include them here just so you wont think you are missing out!  The best views will be from Australia, Eastern Europe and the North American West Coast, but it will be visible to some degree from all of North America and parts of Europe.

This is the second in an eclipse series involving Aquarius and Leo.  In August 2017, a total solar eclipse crossed the middle of North America- cutting a swath through the good ol' US of A. It was followed by a series of natural  disasters across the continent   - hurricanes - fires- floods – making one begin to think the ancients were right about eclipses being bad omens..

Although I hesitate to go that far, symbolically an eclipse is said to mark endings and/or majour shifts. The last one was on a criticl degree (29 Leo). Perhaps this one- at the middle of the sign -  will be less impactful. We shall have to wait and see.

A Full Moon is about yin and yang polarities- attracting and repelling- balancing opposites. These last few days leading up to the eclipse could be intense as imbalances come to the surface -  revealing any underlying disharmony in our interconnections with others.

If you feel the emotional tension building - stay with it - try not to duck or run. Soon the eclipsing/blocking of the Moon (emotions)  will offer us a chance to press the  reset button - by clearing away the emotional baggage of the previous six months. Whatever has been ‘up’ for you since August 2017 – and particularly over the last two weeks, can now be let go of.

This is one more  chance to redefine your 'self' - to become a more empowered manifestation of what you call YOU!   No more people pleasing or giving your power way. No more compromising our self. Leo signifies our innate and glorious core identity - the part of us that wants to shine out into the world. At its best it is the heart-centred self that is generous and wise and eager to play and dance and enjoy life.

At its worst, it is a ego driven, demanding child that seeks constant attention and thrives on high drama (I shall name no names). Temper tantrums are not the ideal way to get what you want.

Aquarius represents the group, the collective, the larger world. Conversely – Aqaurians are also quirky mavericks with unique and non-comformist tendencies. Let your freak flag fly!

Leo and Aquarius in balance are about finding our unique contribution to the greater whole.

Eclipses happen several times every year - in varying degrees of totality - with the slowly shifting emphasis around the zodiac wheel.  An eclipse amplyfys the message of the lunar nodes -  pushing us toward the next steps of our ongoing evolution, which at this time is represented by the North Node in Leo. The personal location of the eclipse in our chart shows where we must leave some outmoded behavior behind, so that we can  move on to a new level (see tab at top 'houses' to zero in on specific impact).

I was shown a photo today of a friend who has very recentlty passed.  Its not the first picture I have seen of a dead person - but I still find it  quite shocking - as well as fascinating - to see how - when the  person is no longer animating the physical form -  it becomes just a phyical husk.  Something/someone has moved on and out.

Similarly- Wednesday's eclipse tells us that something is now ready to depart - some part of us, something we have valued or loved  that is no longer approrpaite to our future path will be moving on.  Relationships will undergo  another phase of endings or completions of some kind.

Money can also be represented by Venus, so financial losses or corrections might occur.   The only way to see if this is particulalry significant to you is to get a personal reading - (or - wait and see what leaves your life hehe).  The eclipse will especially impact those with  personal planets on the eclipse points (with a couple of degrees) at 12 Leo or Aquarius, or planets in the middle of Taurus and Scorpio.

If your birthday is within a few days of the 2nd or 3rd of the month in these signs - some sort of shift may be occurring as we speak. Its exact nature will be described in more detail by the house the eclipse is in (see tab for 'houses' at top). When Uranus moves into Taurus in a few months,  new energy will come flooding into to fill the space left. Dont rush to fill it before then  - trust and wait - and know that something new is around the corner.

The 2017 solar eclipse was asking us to, on one hand step up and be counted- and on the other- move beyond ego based agendas to work for the greater good. Something was triggered in August that is now entering the next phase. It is interesting that the Sumer Solar eclipse was at 29 degrees Leo- exactly on Donald Trump's Rising Sign/Ascendant. At 29 degrees Leo is a fixed star called Regulus -  representing a sharp rise to power- followed by a precitpitous fall. The next chapter certainly promises to be interesting.

Meanwhile - for the rest of us mere mortals - the current Full Moon falling on the North Node in Leo stands for our radiant self. The  theme since the summer has been:

Moon in Leo  is about self esteem – Leo rules the heart and the sense of emotional well being that comes from our inermost core.    This Lunar eclipse is asking  us to take the next steps in releasing old emotional patterns (Moon) that stop us from being the best that we can be (Leo). That is going to continue to be the theme for a while to come - so we may as well get with the program.

Venus represents our receptive side. It shows how much we value ourselves - and are able (or willing) to receive love. Venus  in Aquarius - seeks a connection tha is free of agendas and attachments -  and it links us to all of humanity.

Venus, signifier for the feminine archetype, adds to an extremely close alignment of the Moon and Ceres (dwarf planet), bringing the rights and freedoms of women into majour focus.  The recent Women’s March is a perfect example of women all over the world rising up and demanding to be honoured, respected, heard.

Moon in Leo is about self esteem.  It says ‘Know your worth- claim your throne!

“What is a woman’s place in this world?” asks the Queen of Kattegat. “Is it to be docile? Compliant? Or simply silent? No. The gods have bigger plans for you, I swear it. You are bold. You are strong. You are cunning. You are wise. You are sharp from keeping constant watch. You are powerful for making your voice heard. Your place may be as a warrior or as queen, but only you hold the reins to that destiny. So, be bold, and the gods will carry you to greatness with no one strong enough to stop you.”

The celebration of women is, at its core, a celebration of all humanity. It is  not about excluding men - it merely seeks to redress those collective imbalances, the ones finally ready to be healed and released, to the benefit of all. When one person rises,  we all rise.

"We are hereon a  journey of   unlearning fear - and remembering love"
                                                                                A Course in Miracles

Sounds pretty good.  Equality and freedom for all -  egalitarian - free love - love without coercion- without force - without guile.  That may seem like a tall order - but we've got to start somewhere. Saturn in Capricorn reminds us that it will take some work – maturity – responsibility, accountability.

Response + ability = ability to respond.

“Come on people now- smile on your brother (sister) Everybody get together try to love one another right now.”  (can you tell I am a child of the 60’s ?!)

And lastly: Musn't forget  Jupiter in Scorpio: Wow- the minute it began this combo  has stirred up sex scandals galore.  In a recent televised sex abuse trail - Judge Aquilina told one young woman testifying : " You are so strong and brave. You are not broken. You are glued back together perfectly." To another she said :  “Leave your pain here, and go out and do your magnificent things.”

I cried when I read heard that. It's so powerful that so much is coming to light around sexual misconudct abuse etc- yet it is even bigger than that. Everyone deserves to be seen and heard and encouraged. Everyone deserves to know they are magnificent!

Let your light shine – not to impress others.  Let it shine a path forward - so that they too  may also walk in the light.

You know you want to!
