A Spring Re- awakening

This coming Tues March 20th is the Spring Equinox … the midpoint between the winter and summer solstices, when day and night are equal to each other all over the globe. It's  the first day of spring. Yippee!

In the northern hemisphere, where I live, this is the time when everything begins anew and there is a powerful impetus for forward motion. To add some juice to that impetus, this year Uranus is sitting in the early degrees of Aries, and Mercury is there (albeit going backward) as well.

Two days after the Spring Equinox we have the Sun/Moon conjunction which is the New Moon. This combination will join Mercury and Uranus around what is called the Aries point, which is a significant and highly charged spot on the zodiac wheel.

Right now  Mars is retrograde in Virgo (details, organization and health), Saturn is retrograde in Libra (relationships) and now Mercury  going backward in Aries, the sign of initiative and forward motion (ruled by Mars, which is backward in Virgo, which is ruled by Mercury). This is called mutual reception (when two planets are in each others signs) and thus has particular emphasis. Retrogrades make us go back over things.

Now remember (as if you could forget) that this is 2012. The year it is all supposed to end. Or start. Or something. The Mayan calendar ends in Dec 21(supposedly) as the Sun is crosses the galactic center’s gravitational field (around which our whole universe is centered and which the Sun orbits (and us with it as we orbit the Sun)

The cycles of the Mayan calendar are based on this crossing point, and without going into it all in detail, that is why we are supposedly at some really big moment in earth’s history. The Sun crossing over this area could apparently have significant energetic and even physical impact on our planet, and theories abound about what that could be … from total annihilation to total transformation/enlightenment etc

Another big deal of this year is the exact square between Pluto and Uranus, which is like the squaring off of two titans in some gigantic boxing ring. The pressure is building as they sit in their respective corners.  Pluto = power issues, crisis, destruction, death, transformation, Uranus = sudden awakenings, flashes of brilliance, as well as rebellion and revolution; especially when squared with Pluto (as we are already seeing all over the world)

Ever since the winter solstice, that sense of pause, of being held back in some way, due to these retrograde planets, has been building.  I have used the metaphor of an archer pulling back his/her bow and holding the tension  until the right moment for release.

It has therefore been advisable to go slow, and be cautious and careful as you go back over whatever requires review, or re-visioning, whether that be your relationship or your job or a new project waiting for a start date. It's basically ‘two steps forward, one step back’.  Though a bit frustrating at times, this is a preparation  time ... to allow space for  something new and completely different. Whatever is not working needs to be let go of at this time.

The current Grand Trine in Earth signs is a stabilizing influence right now, helping us endure all this uncertainty, and  the conjunction of Venus (love) and Jupiter (joy, expansion)  in Taurus creates a lovely feel good factor (check out the night sky, they are easily seen).

In a few days, as the Sun enters Aries (ruled by Mars planet of aggression, impulse, forward movement, desire) it immediately hits Uranus ( the Awakener) as well as Mercury and the Moon.

This is an extremely dynamic, highly charged moment, ripe with potential, full of possibility. The resulting energy imprint will pervade the whole year. If a New Moon sets the tone for the coming month, the Sun at the beginning (Aries point) sets the tone for the whole year. Add the two together and ……

The intentions we put out at this New Moon have so much ability to manifest its almost scary.

Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.”  (Goethe)

Yes, there is still a holding back. It will slowly begin to shift as planets move forward again. Mercury is retrograde for a couple more weeks, Mars turns direct in mid April and Saturn  in June right round the time of the exact Uranus Pluto square.

We can liken this New Moon to a fuse is being lit. You know those Roadrunner cartoons where the coyote lights the fuse then waits and waits and finally goes to see why it hasn’t worked ...  and then it explodes in his face.  Boom!

Don’t think just cause things are still a bit slow  that nothing is really happening. Hold your ground and … wait.

And don’t ask me for what. That depends on each of us. There are enough pundits out there willing to explain it all on a global scale. I haven’t a clue.  I am just a baby astrologer anyway. Yet I can see what is obvious: that there is a fuse being lit and it may burn slowly at first but by mid June a big something will  start to be seen. An explosion? An implosion?  Definitely the meeting of some very powerful energy at the very least. And this will happen seven times over the next few years … so June is just the beginning. As I have mentioned before, two other times I know of these energies meeting up so intensely were in the 60’s and during the French Revolution.

So…. next week… from Tues March 20 , the Spring Equinox to Thurs Mar 22 , the New Moon  seed will be planted, the fuse will be lit.

What lights your fuse? What do you want to create in your life? At this New Moon we can be part of creating a new reality. Focus on what you want to see begun. Focus on your highest wish… for your self, and for humanity. Focus on your heart and light the fuse. And know you are part of an amazing time on planet earth.

“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way.

Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.”

  3. Hello Raven,
I appreciate this post...you have been spot on for me before. Your analogy to the bow pulled back waiting to be released is very much how I feel about my life. I will form my intention to the new moon with care today. Thanks!
