Happy Easter: Happy Spring! Happy Return!

Today's Moon in Sagittarius is light and breezy compared to the last few weeks. Sagittarius is the freedom seeing adventurer of the zodiac. I hope you are enjoying some kind of inner or outer fun this weekend. On Sunday as the Moon hits Saturn things will focus our attention the Venus/Chiron moment occurring this week. With Moon Saturn on the Galactic core tomorrow, the biggest call to adventure will be about finding our way home - to our self - and thus to each other  - and Venus -  goddess of love - wants to show us the way.

I am sure you all know by now about  ancient origins of Easter: Ēostre or Ostara : Goddess of Spring associated with eggs and hares and symbols of fertility.

Ostara, Eástre seems therefore to have been the divinity of the radiant dawn, of upspringing light, a spectacle that brings joy and blessing, whose meaning could be easily adapted by the resurrection-day of the Christian's God. Bonfires were lighted at Easter and according to popular belief of long standing, the moment the sun rises on Easter Sunday morning, he gives three joyful leaps, he dances for joy ... Water drawn on the Easter morning is, like that at Christmas, holy and healing ... here also heathen notions seems to have grafted themselves on great Christian festivals. Maidens clothed in white, who at Easter, at the season of returning spring, show themselves in clefts of the rock and on mountains, are suggestive of the ancient goddess.[8] Wikepedia

There is another story that  fits the Easter theme of death and resurrection which is emphasised by  today's big event : VENUS TURNS DIRECT  - after six weeks travelling backward from Aries into Pisces. Before passing behind the Sun on March 25th, Venus was seen as the evening star just after sunset. She is now moving into her new position, sparkling in the early morning sky.

I've written a fair bit recently about this powerful healing moment - as Venus (planet of love and beauty) -  meets Chiron (Wounded Healer) in the sign of the Soul (Pisces). This journey has activated the archetypes of wounding, loss and redemption (Chiron); coming face to face with our shadow, our lost parts, surrendering our ego (false self) to return healed and renewed by universal love (Venus in Pisces).

Venus retrograde motion is reflected in an ancient tale called  'Inanna's Descent'

Inanna, Queen of Heaven, was also also known as Ishtar, the Sumerian Goddess of love, beauty, sexual desire, and fertility, and was considered the Mother of Humanity.  The story is about her dark descent into the underworld, where she was stripped bare of all she had and knew,  and hung as a corpse on a meat hook for three days and three nights. This story is seen by some as symbolising the shift from the matriarchy to patriarchy, where all  yin/feminine soul qualities were dismissed, denigrated, destroyed to make way for dominance, power and greed.

Inanna  was eventually rescued by her spirit helpers, and after some complicated arrangements, she was released above ground once again.  But her story remains a symbol of the downward spiral life takes sometimes, and how our softer feeling side gets pushed asunder far too often in order to stay functioning in a more linear, materialistic world.  Her death, transformation and rebirth echo the themes of Easter - where  Christ - another symbol of love - was crucified then  buried for three days -  and rose again as a symbol of redemption.  This year Venus links them both.

As we celebrate (and eat) symbols of life, fertility and rebirth, we are reminded that after the death of winter comes the renewal of spring.  'Christ' means 'Light' -  Easter is about the Return/Rebirth/Resurrection of the Light - and  Venus/Pisces/ Chiron marks the return of true love after a long dark night of the soul.  It is time to be reborn.

This  message of hope comes in the midst of increasing confusion and darkness, where everything seems to be getting worse and worse. Last Tuesdays Full Moon  brought these themes up to the surface. We are in a kind of purge, a healing crisis,  a necessary descent that is stripping  us to our very core.  Yet the key message is  that change is possible, healing is possible. It may take some work and some facing of ourselves (Saturn), but we can do it. We have to do it, if we want to see a shift in our lives and in our world. We are facing our  dark side, as Inanna had to face hers.

Yet there is hope: Venus message is that, even in our darkest hour, the light of pure love is always shining.  We just have to turn within to see it.

On March 25th Venus' conjunction to the Sun marked the fifth point of the five pointed star/flower of life formation created by Venus orbit in relation to the earth, and today she begins her forward motion around the Sun. Tomorrow morning if you rise early enough you will see her twinkling on the horizon, bringing blessings and a healing balm to release us from our separation and suffering. Venus in  Pisces is the  universal love that will free us.

So - there is something to celebrate (love), something to surrender (ego), and, as always, much to learn.

Venus, the sacred feminine - the Love that has been long buried or denied - can now rise and shine. She is the heart. She is the earth. She is the soul. It's time to bless her, receive her, honour her.  And in so doing honour your own soul self.

You know you want to.

Full Moon in Libra. Chaos, Love, Balance and Healing.

Yesterday 's powerful Full Moon in Libra is still rippling out into the stratosphere, bringing a sense of urgency and expansion to an  already loaded atmosphere. Despite a strong pressure to act/react, we are being pushed back in on ourselves by several retrograde planets. They're saying that before we can change the world, we have to change ourselves (hmm where have we heard that before?).  It's  time for an Inner Revolution.

Libra's ruling planet (Venus) has traveled back into peace loving Pisces, where it now joins Chiron the wounded healer. The message is that Love really IS the answer.

I thought I'd use some recently made SoulCollage® tarot cards (part of Stephanie Anderson Ladd's online FB course "SoulCollage® Tarot Journey') to illustrate the energies involved. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did making them.

A picture is worth a thousand words.

We begin with wild, radical, freedom seeking warrior energy (Sun Uranus Eris in Aries).

Chariot
We must face our fears (Saturn/Chiron) so we can move forward with courage ('cour' = heart)

In this era of upheaval and change, constant shocks and unexpected events are keeping us destabilized (Sun, Uranus Eris, Jupiter, Pluto, )

As the wheel keeps on turning -  where it stops no body knows - we must find allies and ways to remain centered in the midst of the increasing chaos.

Wheel of Fortune: (Leo (Lion)- Courage, Scorpio (Eagle)depth of Vision, Mountain Goat (Capricorn) Perseverance.

Thankfully, its not all bad news. Moon/Jupiter in Libra is FULL of joy and positive emotions. Just beware of  the tendency to go to extremes which will throw you off balance. The huge need for integration and harmony is not easily realized when opposed by a fierce warrior goddess.

Justice
The pressure is on - to balance (Libra) our knee jerk reactions (Aries) with conscious awareness (Sun, Uranus - Moon) and love (Venus) , or we will suffer the consequences (Saturn).

That will require strength and forbearance (Sun in Aries, Saturn trine Sun),  and the ability to deal with the powerful emotional  reactions  going on all around us (and in us). Emotional intelligence required (Vesta in cancer).

Strength
The answer to every challenge does not have to be aggression and war (Aries). We can tame those wild, out of control instincts (ego) once we learn to access the receptive feminine energy of love - Venus - yin/inner calm.

Letting go is part of the Healing. It can be difficult or easy depending on how we approach things. There is wisdom (Jupiter) inside us if we know how to access it. An Attitude of Gratitude helps.

Hanged One

Meanwhile, Venus and Chiron weep for the lonely, the abandoned, the lost - the broken-hearted. Its time to heal those inner wounds and step out of victim-hood.

Lovers
Sometimes the letting go is hard - and  takes time to process -  yet the energy is calling us forward now - we cannot stay locked up in the past forever.

A part of us resists endings and fears death, even though we know they are both necessary parts of life.  Pluto and Uranus are shaking things up to make way for something  newer and better -  deep down we know that something has to give, we have to surrender . (Pluto = Death/Transformation Neptune in Pisces = Surrender.)

Death

Libra and Venus are about love, beauty, harmony.  Healing  our soul wounds is a priority right now (Venus/Chiron/ Pisces) - and even as Chiron brings up our pain and vulnerability, Venus is there to heal our broken heart.

Venus also represents the divine feminine, the sacred soul of humanity,  and Pisces is eternal source energy. The joining of the two is highly significant,  and can mark a turning point in your life for the better.

“Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding. It is the bitter potion by which the physician within you heals your sick self. Therefore, trust the physician and drink his remedy in silence and tranquility.” Kalhil Gibran, The Prophet

Mercury retrograde in Taurus turns our attention inward and  teaches us to listen to our truest gut instincts - it will help us find ways to ground and nourish both our inner and outer self. This period of contemplation and inner reflection can aid us in getting in touch with our true worth, and lead to a future flowering. A pause is as good as a rest.

Hermit
It certainly can't hurt to step away from the madness now and then.

Allow the healing energies of Venus/Chiron to sooth you and heal you and help you let go of the past.

Temperance
While the Full Moon in Libra seeks harmony and balance, Sun/Uranus stir things up, bringing in highly innovative, creative energy that can reveal new ways around old problems. We are all magicians if we can think outside the box and let some love and  magic into our lives.

Who knows what possibilities lay in store for us?

Unconditional Love and Finding our Way Home (Venus heads into Pisces)

Venus (love, relating) is still retrograde and about to slip back into cosmic, dreamy Pisces.  Searching for love in all the wrong places?
or -  discovering that the love you've been seeking - was already inside of you.

Once in Pisces, Venus will meet up again with Chiron, the wounded Healer.

Chiron was a centaur in Greek mythology who was famous as a mentor/teacher for the Greek heroes like Hercules, Achilles etc. and  known for his knowledge and skill with medicine, as well as his intelligence and peaceful nature (compared to the other, generally wild centaurs). Chiron  was accidentally wounded and spent his life seeking a cure for the poison that was killing him. In the end, in an act of sacrifice, and to escape his endless suffering, Chiron exchanged his immortality for the life of Prometheus, who had been chained to a rock and left to die for stealing fire from the gods.

Chiron represents sacred justice and the healing of our  hidden vulnerabilities and wounds, many of which were accumulated in childhood.  In Pisces, Chiron points to a deep sense of loss and separation, from others, from source energy, from ourselves.

In association with Venus, Chiron represents an endless seeking for love, and the ensuing pain and disappointment that comes from seeking it in an imperfect world. Many would say - just accept the imperfections and get on with living -  and in many ways that is good advice. Yet inside of us the longing remains.

Venus/Chiron in Pisces represents unconditional love, and points to our deep need for connection, and an ever present hope that it will be met somehow, someday.  Saturn's shadow falling on on this dynamic can trigger negative expectations, a fear of of failure, bringing up disappointments, depression or  false conclusions that "nothing will ever work out. "

Although Saturn can be a downer, it also points to the  solution.

As Saturn (cause and effect)   turns backward  exactly on the Galactic Core (centre of our galaxy), it asks us to take responsibility for the life we lead and the love that we seek.  Saturn in this sacred location is asking us to look into our very core for the answers.  Again and again the message is given: 'Everything you are looking for is inside of you. ' 'Know thyself.'  'To thine own self be true.'

Look at a little child and tell me they don't innately embody pure love. Everyone is magnetically drawn to their innocence and purity ('yet ye be as little children...'). That used to be us!  So how did we get so far away from that?

This is a golden opportunity to  open our hearts and let love in.  Venus and Chiron aligning together in Pisces can help us release the painful past so we can move toward a more fulfilling future. Perhaps that will come as an aha moment , or a turning point in a relationship. Some of us  are learning to gracefully let go and move on, while others are moving  into more authentic connections with others.

The key message is that we must first turn within to find the love we seek,  and  it is actually part of our life purpose to do so.

'As within so without'. Once we have filled our own cup, we will begin to find love everywhere we turn. And in fact the biggest blessing may be to discover that we are already blessed.

Venus in Pisces  says that our inherent value is linked to a connection with something larger. Chiron  brings healing to the parts of us that believe we are separate, or that we don't deserve love.  Venus in Aries,  which begins and ends this particular Venus cycle, tells us that finding a true self love is the beginning and the end of the story.

'Wherever I go, there I am.'

Venus in Aries can be very self centered, yet that in itself is not true self love. Narcissism  is merely a mask and a charade to cover up deep feelings of low self worth.

Venus backward journey can represent a descent into the shadows, bringing us face to face with our pain and suffering as an important step in moving beyond old wounds. This is not always an easy journey, and there is a danger of getting stuck there. Don't despair. When Venus resurfaces on the other side of the Sun as the Morning Star, it  represents a new start, where we get to discover, like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, that we had the solution all along.

Home (and love)  is where the heart is, and the heart is inside of us.
