Anger and Desire: Mars Retrograde in Scorpio

Before I start: a few quick notes.
First,  If you want to be on the mailing list and get notification whenever there's a new post, you can sign up on the link to the right.
Also, I do regular Astro Updates on Facebook. The link on lower right will direct you to 'like' the Aurum Astrology FB page. Just be forewarned, Facebook sometimes limits who sees these posts (to get us to pay more) so best to just visit the page regularly to see daily updates. The FB posts  tend to be short and sweet, while on here I go into more detail.
Thirdly: I do Personal Astrology Readings which combine your birth chart with a look at your hand print. Its quite amazing to see how the natal chart is reflected in the lines, finger prints and shape of the hand. It really helps to understand what resources we have to work with to aid us in  fulfilling our Personal Life Purpose.

I also want to apologize for the weird formatting issues on this blog. I dont know if it is my computer or the website or the extension of Mercury retrograde. I am considering switching over to Wordpress, but in the meantime, change of fonts, weird sizes etc seem to be beyond my control!
Please bear with me!

Now: On to the Astrology Forecast

Mars Retrograde  in Scorpio!

Mars in our chart tells us a lot about what we want, how we go after it, and how we react when we do not get it. It also shows where aggression or assertion dominate our life.  Mars Retrograde is getting us to 'do- over' or review some aspect of the act of 'doing' or 'getting'  in our lives. Where it is in your chart by house will show the specific area of focus you need to  review or re-do.

Mars/Aries was the god of war:  representing action and assertion, initiative and leadership. When thwarted, Mars energy becomes impatient and reactive,  frustrated,  aggressive and angry; from temper tantrums to outright violence!

As Mars slips back into its home sign of Scorpio, our desires will become amplified and for some,  thwarted,  throwing us back on ourselves to  re-examine our deepest (and often hidden) fears around getting our 'needs' and 'wants' met. The recent  opposition to Venus (giving/receiving love) at the last Full Moon amplified the focus on relationships as the arena for learning about what we want, desire, resist etc,

Mars  is our 'applied will' and 'core drives'. It  links to  our libido, our urges, who or what we go after,  and what we would do if/when we 'get' it or them (or not).

Mars retrograde can trigger survival issues around both sex and money (fear of lack), meaning those of us who are in the direct path of this energy (by transit) will be dealing with our 'stuff' around not only sexuality and the nature of desire, but also shared resources, financial agreements, inheritances, divorces etc. This will impact everyone in small ways, and  those with Mars emphasized in their charts, or a strong Aries or Scorpio (Moon, Asc or  Sun sign) or  personal planets in the later degrees of Scorpio  will feel it most intensely.

Some of us will become highly energized by all of it!

Some will not!!

As our achilles heel becomes exposed, we may discover where we are strongest, and where we are our weakest.  Often  great stress forces us to discover how much resilience we have deep inside. In terms of relationships, we all hit periods where our love life is challenging. And yes, under some circumstances, this could bring out the worst in us. See it as a kind of test.   The point is  not to just criticize yourself for your perceived failings, but to face and deal with them.  Celebrate the fact that despite such an adverse climate, you are still here and you are even (almost) thriving!

All of this follows a period of Mars moving through the dynamic sign of  Sagittarius, where we got in touch with  the archetype of the cosmic warrior and spiritual adventurer extraordinaire, while at the same time examining  inherited religious and spiritual concepts that keep us from discovering our own truth.

Now, as Mars continues its backward journey into Scorpio, we will continue to reexamine our  core beliefs,  focused on these Scorpio themes. For instance, core shame gets embedded at an early age and can have a profound influence on how we go after what we feel we deserve (or feel we don't).

"Don't be fooled into thinking that there is something wrong with you. Don't be tricked into believing that you are somehow too difficult to deal with or too hard to love. You're not. "
Oliver Cainer

This is just a chance to clean out a bit more of old stuff that we don't need to hang onto any longer. As we learn from our past we get to re-do our future in a more positive way. We've moved from the outer adventure (Sagittarius) to the inner one! When we re enter Sagittarius later in August, we will hopefully be carrying  less internal \baggage around anger, sex, money etc. with a better view of what we want to manifest in our world.

Meanwhile, as we learn how to  process and express our anger,  we will find out the difference between assertion and aggression (Mars), or  the difference between desire and lust (Scorpio).

Do use caution and discretion when feeling upset; and beware of acting on impulse.  In this climate our Mars energy can  come back to bite us! Desires thwarted easily become anger at others, or at oneself, and can cause confusion or self pity.

Embrace the confusion... it has much to teach you.. about yourself.

Then...

LET THAT SHIT GO!!!

 You know you want to!

 Anger in the signs:

#1 Cardinal Signs: Aries, Libra, Capricorn, Cancer
The modality with the most anger is the cardinal signs. With their constant need to push forward, they succumb to anger easily because they often feel thwarted by anything that impedes their forward momentum. Furthermore, they get frustrated by anyone or anything that takes away their ability to be in charge.

#2 Mutable Signs: Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces
The mutable signs often feel a lack of control, which causes them anger. It is common for them to feel controlled by circumstances or other people without a real ability to force or defend their own agenda. Their inability to lead and their lack of self control, causes some anger.

#3 Fixed Signs: Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius
It's the fixed signs who are least susceptible to anger because of their great self-control, which actually restrains anger. They also have less desire to lead than the cardinal signs and less fear of being controlled by others as the mutable signs. Therefore, they experience less frustration and less anger. Having fixed signs actually works to reduce anger. (excerpted

Astro Details:
Mars retrograded (travelled backward) back into Scorpio early Friday May 27th, and will remain in Scorpio until August 2, 2016,  when it returns to Sagittarius again. This puts a strong focus on both Sagittarius and Scorpio, as the planet of war zig-zags between the two.  Overall, Mars will have spent almost 4 1/2 months in Scorpio in 2016 (longer than usual than it stays in any sign)  because  of the retrograde ( April 17 - June 29, 2016).

Mercury Direct: What are you thinking about?

The Sun has now entered the heady atmosphere of Gemini. Mercury is now moving direct.
Talking, socializing, and lots of thinking thinking thinking.

And what are we thinking about?

Love Love Love. Sex. Sex. Sex. Money Money Money!

We want it. We seek it. We romanticize it.

Then we repel it. We resist it. We fear it (Saturn).

Mars (desire, action) opposite Venus (love, relating, money) which is being exaggerated by Jupiter!!

Mars is retrograde meaning we need to be reflecting more then re-acting.
Or... we can reflect on our reactions.

Full Moon in Sagittarius Mercury Storm

Not only is there a Full Moon in fire sign Sagittarius later today, it's also the last day of Mercury retrograde! The time just before and after Mercury changes directions is called the 'Mercury Storm'. Things could get a little topsy-turvy at this time. (yes, even more so! )

Add a fiery Full Moon to that and  things may get downright testy.

In true  Mercury retrograde fashion, I've just lost the whole blog that I spent over an hour writing. Sigh!

I'll come back here tomorrow to fill in the details.

Main thing: Mars is a big part of this Full Moon. Mars presence adds aggression,  impatience, reactivity etc.

It could get stormy!

Look to Jupiter , as ruler of Sagittarius where the Moon is full, for best advice.

Jupiter in Virgo says keep it humble. Keep your head down. Let many things pass.

You know you want to!

Step by step Moon in Virgo.

The Moon marks our emotional cycles. Today's  Moon in Virgo is all about the detail.Virgo's are fastidious, detail and sometimes critical to a fault; some would even say a bit neurotic, but aren't we all?! If you are a Virgo you may feel a bit more emotional or sensitive today or your dreams may be more vivid. With Saturn in the picture you may also be a bit cranky.

We are now at the first quarter Moon, halfway point between New Moon and Full Moon. Ironically, it looks like a half moon, but it is one quarter way through its monthly cycle.

This is where the seeds we planted, (both literal and metaphorical) get tested as they begining to sprout. Some will have landed on fertile ground, others will not make it. In one week, at the Full Moon,  we will then see some fruition...  as they push above the earth we will see which ones germinated.

There's an air of either anticipation or resignation as we wait for results.
Sun in Taurus is patient and plodding and reminds us that the harvest takes time.

The Virgo Moon links us to two dominant configurations in the sky that are creating a strong push-pull dynamic that has been taking two steps forward and one step back.

On one hand, a beautiful Grand Trine in earth Signs (blue triangle) is grounding and soothing us by deepening our connection to the earth and nature,  which helps us stay focused and disciplined while also enjoying the beauty of the  natural world. Sensual pleasure can bring much ... well... pleasure!

Jupiter (faith, joy, fairness) is  moving direct again, lifting some of the doom and gloom that has been prevalent recently.

On the other hand, we still have four retrograde planets and they continue to put the brakes on whatever endeavours we are involved with. That's not necessarily  a bad thing; it gets us to to review and reflect so we get adjust our trajectory and set things right.

Mercury crossing the Sun last Monday (see last post) hopefully brought some insight and inspiration in regards to how you think about all of the above....i.s. new information may have come to light that will help you in decision making, or you may have suddenly realized that you actually have more than you realized and all is well. Insights will tend to be focused n the Taurus area of your chart (see tab above for 'meaning of houses')

The the second majour aspect being activated by the Moon today is called a T- sqaure. Two points opposite each other each form a 90 degree angle to a third point. Looks like a T. (red triangle in chart)

Moon Jupiter brings a sense of optimism and exuberant joy that believes all will go well (Jupiter). It bumps into into a vague pessimism and fear that it won't (Saturn).   Things are also a bit dreamy and weird and all sorts of strange occurrences (Neptune ) are occurring, especially if you have Neptune aspecting a key part of your chart as I do. Things keep disappearing and reappearing, as I float about in a dreamy fog  doing my best to stay focused when needed.  This aspect ads to our internior world and encourages meditation, art, creativity.

Our Trust is definitely being tested (Neptune in Pisces)

The Moon in Virgo accentuates  Jupitairan optimism although in more circumspect sign of Virgo I would call this a 'quiet joy'. This is a good time to focus on health issues or organizing your stuff, or doing any sort of craft that requires dextrous nimble handwork.

Jupiter's contact with the Moons North Node (destiny point) seems to have opened up a portal. Many are leaving the planet, others want to, and the rest of us may feel a vague sense of longing to go home. Good thing we bring our home with us. Heaven is a state not a place so part of this energy helps us remeber that we are actually ok and everything we need is inside of us.

Saturn (doubt, fear)  is not so sure. It sits at s the pressure point of all this, and wants us to be practical. Dont go off getting lost in your dreams and schemes it warns us. Stay down here on earth where there is work to be done!!

Saturn in the sign of Sagittarius  get s us to examine our core beliefs and belief systems in general. The world dynamics are showing us how easily we can become stuck in rigid ideologies that separate us from each other.

Sagittarius, at its highest, is about knowing, not believing. Yet at its lowest,  its about know -it- all- ness ... and judging others beliefs as less valid than our own. I will write more next week about how theFull Moon in Sagittarius  brings our issues with beliefs systems out into full focus.

Moon in Virgo says pay attention to the details. Pay attention to your health.  Sun in Taurus says walk in nature and eat good food, enjoy your senses, and Pluto in Capricorn says allow the deconstruction to occur. Let the old systems die,  so we can rebuild a better world.

Lots going on, lots to think about, as Mercury continues it backward motion in Taurus. Overall, the Grand Earth Trine is a blessing in challenging times. Let mother earth hold you in her arms.

AUSPICIOUS! Mercury eclipse of Sun! Monday May 9th

MERCURY, planet of communication, will make a RARE TRANSIT across the Sun on Monday.

http://spaceweather.com/
This exciting event will highlight the positive energies that are still rippling out from Friday's New Moon (scroll down to read recent posts)

"On average, transits of Mercury occur about 13 or 14 times every 100 years. The last one took place in 2006, and the next one won't occur until November 11, 2019. After that, we won't see another until 2032."

Mercury's backward motion through Taurus has us reflecting on our personal values,  what gives us our confidence and sense of personal worth.  Mercury is about communications and our thinking process. In Taurus it becomes grounded and practical, especially with a link to a Grand Earth Trine. It can also represent our money or what we value. Abundance abounds!

This 'eclipse' will bring extra 'oomph' to the intentions we set out at the recent New Moon, bringing a positive rich flow to all. It's not too late to envision what you would like to see manifest .

Retrogrades often reveal hidden information.  New understanding and insight is on its way. We will discover we have far more than we ever imagined.

Please leave your email on link at top right and you will be notified when there is a new post.

Tab at top of page (houses) show the area you where in your own life some sort of new information or windfall could occur.  Or email me if you want a more detailed personal reading on how this transit will affect your life.

New Moon in Taurus : Part Two

Please click on link to the right to be notified when there is a new post.

I wanted to add that this wonderful grounding  Taurus New Moon  is back-lit by some very dynamic and somewhat unsettling energies that are part of the ongoing restructuring and shaking down of the world as we know it (Pluto,Uranus/Saturn Neptune etc).  On Sunday the Moon moves into Aries and activates some of the more unsettled aspects, so enjoy your weekend but don't forget to batten down the hatches.

A tree with strong roots is not so easily blown over.

The way ahead may not always be clear as the road keeps dipping and turning back on itself. To make it though the maze we will need to learn to tune into and trust our deepest instincts.

As we reflect and review on our thoughts and actions (Mercury and Mars retrograde)  is healthy to  question what we believe to be true (Neptune square Saturn in Sagittarius); this  allows in new information (Uranus in Aries). We know we cannot keep doing the same old things in the same old way.  Those who are clinging to old beliefs (Saturn in Sagittarius) will suffer the most as the very foundations we are standing on continue to crumble (Pluto Capricorn).

It's truly is time for something completely different.

So much push-pull, go fast, slow down,  turn left, turn right  kind of thing (ahhhh),   and when we are feeling stressed and confused survival fears can take over.

North of where I live in Western Canada, a dramatic  forest fire  is destroying a small city as it levels thousands of homes and livelihoods. Many have lost everything and are now homeless and on the road seeking shelter. There are many such challenging situations going on, from Syria to Ecuador, to nuclear meltdowns to food shortages etc. Easy to dismiss when it is far away, but when it lands on your doorstep it gets a bit REAL!

What has been deeply touching is the support and generousity that tragedy  brings out of people. Human kindness (Sun Venus in Taurus) goes a long way toward surviving difficult times.  I am inspired by the  generousity, as I see people being in service in a practical way (Saturn). Neptune  (compassion) in Pisces (higher self)  magnified by  Jupiter (generousity) in Virgo (service).

Wherever you are are, and  whatever the circumstances, use this New Moon to  ground and nurture yourselves and others and to stay rooted in the midst of the storm.

And when those high winds and lightning flashes shake your foundations,  find the true sense of security that comes from a deep connection to the core of your being. Then, find your tribe, reach out to your community. Home is where the heart is.

One more thing: There is always creativity within the chaos;  those lightning flashes can light up a way not seen before, so keep alert  and watch for signs.

New Moon in Taurus

Today is the New Moon in Taurus, with Sun, Venus, and Moon all together and  connecting to a Grand Earth Trine. A Grand Trine is three earth signs with planets all in similar degrees connecting to and reinforcing each other. Trines represent an easy flow of energy, so we can feel supported by this lovely earth energy.

Even though in pictures you often see the New Moon represented as a crescent Moon, if you look out in the sky you will not see that cresecent for a few days. When the Sun and Moon conjoin ('conjunctio', sacred marriage) the Moon is usually behind the Sun and thus not visible from down here in earth.

The merging of these Yin and Yang energies creates a burst of creative force that we can harness through intention for the coming month.

Taurus is a fixed feminine sign that links to the great earth mother and brings out our need for security. Taurus can be stubborn to an extreme, but it is this kind of persistence and patience that we need right now with five planets moving backward in the sky (perception only), meaning all sorts of delays and stalls and basic madness and mayhem.

Ruled by Venus, this sign also represents the pleasure principle. With Venus so close to the Sun Moon conjunction, We want to feel GOOD! This is a time to tune into our senses and celebrate life as we eat drink and be merry.

Slow down, feel the earth beneath your feet,  and plant your seeds of intention in the fertile soil! Things are not moving too quickly anyway, so we may as well stop and smell the flowers!!!

May Day May 1st... Beltane

Hurray Hurray the First of May
Outdoor frolicking starts today!
Beltane (May Day) comes from the Celtic word meaning “fires of Bel.” It’s a reference to the Celtic sun deity, Belenus. Beltane, also spelled Beltine or Beltaine, gets its name as well from the Gaelic word "teine," meaning fire.

The ancient Celts marked the coming summer with feasts and rituals that honored fertility and the beginning of open pasturing, such as driving cattle between two bonfires — a custom that was believed to magically shield the animals from disease before they were led into summer pastures. A sacred fire is lit to draw the suns rays down to warm the earth, and couples leap over the fire for fertility.

The Sun is in fixed earth sign Taurus, part of a Grand Trine (planets in all three earth signs). This is stabilizing us, bringing some relief  in the midst of so much tension, change and upheaval, connecting us to mother earth. We honour her by celebrating all things related to nurturing and security: food, fire, fertility, fecundity, fun!!

It's a time to welcome the abundance of the fertile earth with food and fire and Maypole dancing. Oh and lots of sex!!
