Black Moon/New Moon in Aries: Something New/Something Old

Image
This Sunday’s New Moon in Aries is about to send us headlong into spring!     Ok I know it officially already started when the Sun moved into Aries on March 20th.  As we start the new lunar cycle, the Sun and Moon together  in feisty, fiery Aries really kick-start the astrological year. Uranus in Aries is about living authentically, alive and awake, about discovering who we are and what we want. It is really about time we let go of that old, limited self  and stepped into who we came here to be! This is also the second New Moon of the month (called a Black Moon); this month we  have straddled the old and the new; Pisces (last new moon) is the last sign of the zodiac, while Aries is the first. It has been a weird month of missed communications and  foggy wrong turns, and many of us will be glad to see the back of it.  Once we turn our headlights on in the fog …  forward motion will be totally possible, as long as we drive carefully. By next week the

Happy Spring Equinox (Are we there yet?)

Spring has sprung, sort of. Where I live in western Canada the weather forecast is for more cold and snow (after two weeks of warmth and sunshine that is very cruel) Sigh.  I know we are not the only ones.  What a winter eh? Anyway, Happy Spring to you all. It will come sooner or later. ( and  a Happy Autumn to those of you 'down under') Astrologically the Equinox is when we have equal day and night, hence the term  equi (equal) nox (day).  The Sun moves into Aries, sign of the warrior, bringing fire and initiative and the urge to move, do, act . Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, and this is the first day. (That is why Aries like to be first) It seems appropriate that Aries ruler, Mars, is sitting exactly opposite in Libra, sign of the scales and home of the autumn equinox. It is a moment of equanimity, when we are called to pause and find our center.  Take a breath in. Feel it.  Hold it. (Caress it) Then... let it go...exhale...  as you step into the new day.

Virgo Full Moon: Bend a Little

Image
This Sunday the Moon is Full in Virgo, opposite the Sun at 26 degrees Pisces. If you have planets in the last degrees of Pisces, Virgo, Sagittarius or Gemini, you will feel the effects more strongly than most. All of us will be bathing in a wondrous illumination and expansion, as the inspirational energy field that emerged from the New Moon conjunct Neptune in Pisces of two weeks ago, sweeps to a crescendo this weekend. Both Virgo and Pisces are linked to service and humility. I am very tempted to make the following quote my whole post, as it is so appropriate to this Full Moon. 15. MODESTY creates success. The superior person carries things through. It is the law of heaven to make fullness empty and to make full what is modest; when the sun is at its zenith, it must, according to the law of heaven, turn toward its setting, and at its nadir it rises toward a new dawn.  In obedience to the same law, the moon when it is full begins to wane, and wh

Mercury Saturn at Loggerheads

Right now there is tension between Mercury and Saturn . Mercury is our communication... and Saturn is... well Saturn is whats behind the saying...'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger!'  Do you sometimes feel like you are going three steps forward and two steps back? Saturn in Scorpio can be very harsh or critical, as well as painstakingly tenacious. It will be hard to let go of perceived injustices under this combination. We might become overly defensive when we find our thought processes or efforts at communication challenged or judged by people.  Others will feel more self critical under this aspect, feeling more easily defeated or discouraged by negative thinking. Don't lose hope... there is it the same time a very lovely trine between Neptune in Pisces and a Jupiter Moon conjunction in nurturing Cancer. Though this could amplify our emotional reactions, it will also help us access the compassion and caring  that can help us through any tense interaction

New Moon in PIsces: 'All I need to do is Dream.... '

Image
At this New Moon, (3 am EST and 10 am GMT…   Sun, Moon, and Neptune are close together in watery Pisces. This very non-linear, dreamy, intuitive energy sets the tone for the whole month of March. Get out your snorkel, we are going deep sea diving!! The sign for Pisces ( ♓ ),is composed of two half-circles and a band, signifying the dual nature of (wo)man in both the physical world and the unseen realm. In the  symbol of Pisces, one fish facing upwards  is swimming towards the heavens, or is seeking spiritual illumination. The other fish swims downward, concerning itself with material matters. Thus Pisces is associated with the duality of earthly life, wherein we seek the heavens, yet easily get caught up in daily life.  Neptune's prominence in this New Moon emphasizes the more etherial, spiritual side of Pisces (things are looking up). The intentions we put out for the coming month will  be most effective when coming from our int
