2014 is Here!!

2014 kicked off with a powerful New Moon in Capricorn. This is most auspicious, as a New Moon marks new beginnings, and in Capricorn, brings the power of manifestation and discipline to whatever projects we are starting the year with.

A link to the grand cross formation makes it even more impressive, as that dynamic energy puts us all into fast forward motion.

Capricorn is about ambition, mastery and manifestation. Its ruler is Saturn, the lord of time and karma, and of the material world. The karmic goal of Capricorn is to direct oneself with maturity and wisdom, and to structure oneself within society.  We gain mastery by taking responsibility in our lives and focusing our energies toward concrete goals.

As spiritual beings having a physical experience, it is through Capricorn that we assume full responsibility for what we create in the outer world. A New Moon here will help us focus our intentions and zoom in on what we want to bring forward into 2014. This is where we walk our talk make it real.

There was (and is) an added intensity created by the Moon linking up with with both Mercury (thinking and communication) and Pluto (intensification and transformation)… with both sitting opposite to Jupiter and squaring Mars in Libra and Uranus in Aries. These are the planets that currently make up the Cardinal Grand Cross that has been the hallmark of our time. If you have personal planets in the early parts of any of these sings you may be feeling this all rather acutely! It also means there are probably major changes going on in your life.

Cardinal signs are the movers and shakers of the zodiac…they start off each season and bring the impetus to get things moving.

The Grand Cross together with the New Moon brings some heavy duty manifestation power to our first week in 2014.

This powerful signature of our times is the cause (or reflection) of so much change and upheaval on our planet and is highlighted by a square between Pluto and Uranus. This aspect is going to peak again in April and we can expect more mayhem and upheaval throughout the world. Its all about  breaking down and breaking through!

A grand cross is a group of four planets all in a square to each other (90 degrees) and also opposite each other (thus called a cross or a square)

Squares create tension. Tension requires a response and thus triggers action. Like when lifting weights… you are actually tearing down muscle fibre, which then rebuilds itself and in the process becomes stronger.

“Tension is associated with growing (as in the term “growing pains”), because when you act to resolve tension in any form, you frequently grow in some way as a fringe benefit.”
                            Eric Francis, Planet Waves

A grand square (or cross) therefore creates a grand tension… which in turn becomes powerful, transformative forward moving energy. I’ve spoken before how this is like a diamond…something beautiful and strong created under great pressure. The growing pains and feeling of pressure are part of the process.

This will affect our communication (Mercury) and emotions (Moon), our personal power and control issues as well as our money issues (Pluto) and our ability to nurture ourselves and others and our need to honour our planet, Gaia or  mother earth (Jupiter in Cancer). It will also shake up our relationships (Mars in Libra) by triggering a need to break free of restrictions, as well as provide a new vision of what is possible (Uranus in Aries).

Today (Jan 5th) the Moon in Pisces added a Kite formation ...adding even more creative dynamic energy to the mix. See how everything is focusing on the group of planets (top right) in Capricorn?
We are being implelled to think differently, act more consciously, move more gently and envision more clearly and boldly than ever before.

If there are areas of our life that are stuck in stagnation, we may tend to resist this pressure. Then, if we resist our resistance … that itself becomes another tension. Which all eventually turns into even more growth as we examine our own resistance and discover things about ourselves in the process (Saturn in Scorpio).

The main point is that if we actively engage with these forces, we can be liberated from our blockages and accomplish a lot. If we resist, it could be hell (what you resist persists).

Take heart. So much has happened in the last year to shake us loose from old patterns and habits. We now have an opportunity to really progress in our lives in a positive direction. Just don’t expect it to be coasting along the same ol’ same ol. This New Moon heralds a dynamic push forward and it is available for all of us to tap into.

The motto for Capricorn:   “The buck stops here!”

It’s time to step up to the plate and do whatever it is you came here to do.

Be the change you want to see in the world!!
