Aquarius New Moon: Freedom Call!

A New Moon is a Sun/Moon Conjunction…  Yin and Yang meet up in the sky to create a new emotional energy for the coming month.

This joining of solar and lunar energies is also known as the sacred marriage (mysterium conjunctionis).  (Here’s a link to the post I did last year on  this subject).

The joint creative power of Sun and Moon together is intention made manifest, a seed moment that carries us forward. With an Aquarius New Moon, new ideas and visions will begin to sprout in your consciousness. This is the time to plant them and watch them grow.

This particular New Moon squares the lunar nodes, so it also has the feeling of an eclipse. That puts an emphasis on endings as well as new beginnings; there’s a bit of weeding to be done to clear  space for new growth.

We seem to be having a lot of those lately… critical turning points that are about releasing the past to make way for something new. Here’s yet another moment of choice as we re-create our world and reality.

This New Moon is chance to align ourselves to the ideals of the Aquarian Age:   Equality. Inclusivity. Individuality. Freedom. Innovation. Originality.  Vision.

The square to the moon’s nodes says lets not do things in the same old way.  Have you heard Albert Einstein’s definition of Insanity?

“Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Time for something completely different!

Now as I said last week,  Aquarius is a quirky sign full of conundrums,  representing both the individual and the group, freedom and connection. It’s a fixed (stubborn, set) sign (Saturn co ruler), and also the bohemian/maverick (Uranus) in all of us.

This New Moon therefore, points to where we may face pressure to give in to group consciousness; it represents our authenticity  vs the need to please others, like families, friends, partners, bosses, co-workers.

One can feel quite vulnerable taking the path less tread upon. Mars (action, desire) sitting with Chiron (wounding/healing) adds to that feeling of exposure right now.  Be gentle with yourself and others.   And remember, it’s a seed… not the whole plant. Rome wasn’t built in a day!

Thing is, right now, Uranus (co ruler of Aquarius) in tense square Pluto, is infecting us with a revolutionary urge: we are impatient, itching for change … and we know its time to step up to the plate.

Yet Saturn digging deep in Scorpio means old wounds and emotional patterning can get in our way and affect our ability to stand up for ourselves.  Should I? Could I? Would I?

Despite these challenges, or even because of them, this Aquarian New Moon can motivate a deeper sense of originality and individuality in you than you may have felt in a long time. Just focus on the feeling and let your inner maverick out to play.

If you do so in the area (house) of your chart the New Moon occurs in, you will discover where change and innovation wants to happen.

(See the list below re  meanings of the chart houses. Or  count from your Sun sign (as house # one) and get the solar version of the houses,  which is what astrologers use when they don’t have your birth time.

Then … plant the seed of intention and watch it grow.

Release your past.
Empower your present.
Envision your future.
