New Moon in Capricorn
Happy New Year everybody!
Today is the first New Moon of 2013. The flu has
knocked me down a bit this week, so in the spirit of today’s New Moon, I will
cut to the chase!
We start a new emotional cycle in the sign of stoic, hard
working Capricorn.
This earthy energy is very focused on practicalities. It organized,
serious, and structured, with a strong drive to succeed on the material plane.
Capricorn is a doer in the most literal sense.
This New Moon therefore, speaks of hard work and focus on
the job at hand. Sun, Mercury, Moon, Venus and Pluto all together in this sign
of the Goat amplify the message.
If you didn’t
make any New Year's resolutions, you haven’t missed out. This is the perfect
time to set your intentions for the coming month as well as for the whole year. This
is an excellent moment to start new projects or complete what needs completing so
you can start to feel you are making progress. Capricorns don’t sit around. Forward movement will
be easier right now, even if it hasn’t been lately.
Capricorn’s ruler, Saturn, is in Scorpio, and my last few
posts have mentioned how this energy forces us to face things we have been
avoiding and deal with those hidden issues no one likes to face. Things may come up in this regard right now as the New Moon is new in a Saturn ruled sign, but don't expect it all to be cleared away all at once. That process is going to continue for a couple of years as Saturn moves through Scorpio. Still, with so much forward motion right now in Capricorn, some of
that which we need to deal with will be really in our face.
If you haven’t done
so already at the Solstice or at New Years, you can still make a ritual out of
writing down everything you want to release, as well as the goals you want to set to
carry you into 2013. I am planning to do this tomorrow night and burn them in a
bonfire outside. A fireplace will do of course, or any similar method you decide upon. The point is to release the past and start the new cycle with clear
intentions.
Part of the dynamic we are dealing with is about empowerment. Pluto in Capricorn in square with Uranus (the Rebel) has been
confronting our ideas of authority and power. Rather than spend too much time
complaining about how others misuse or abuse their power, its time to step up
to the plate and claim authority over our own lives. That’s essentially what
Capricorn is about.
All in all it’s a rather serious and focused start to the
year as this grounded, cardinal sign give us the impetus and the strength to
deal with the tasks at hand.
Its time to walk your talk!!
And for those of you who are feeling a little overwhelmed by this energy, there’s a little bit of escapism present between
Jupiter and Neptune. This can bring us into conflict with our need to move
forward, though it can also allow for some of us to stop the merry go round for a moment. The choice is ours of course. Perhaps this idealistic and dreamy energy can be channeled into our inner quest,
while we remain focused on the outer realities.
Look to see where the New Moon is in your chart to see where
you can make a new beginning, or where you will feel a bit of Saturnian pressure. Mine is in my third house of communication. I am
going to try to be more consistent with this blog post. Due to some health issues, I have been a bit
erratic lately, but hope to get back into a regular weekend posting. My original intention was to post the New and Full moons, which I have basicaly been doing... so I am allowing myself this back door if my energy doesn't improve immediately. Either way, I hope to be more consistent if I can.
Whatever your vision is, now is a good time to move forward
with it.
Onward and upward!!!
“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to
draw back. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one
elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid
plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves
too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have
occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's
favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance,
which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do,
or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.
Begin it now.”
