Outer vs Inner

Image
There are two important distinctions to be aware of re interpreting current trends. There are what are called ‘inner’ and ‘outer’ planets, describing how close or far they are from earth. Inner planets are called the personal planets and describe our more individual traits and tendencies etc. such as Sun for self, Moon for emotions etc. These planets move fairy quickly and their movement help describe our day to day experiences. Outer planets, on the other hand, move slowly and affect whole generations. They are said to be impersonal and operate as major archetypal forces. Where they are by sign can indicate big energies going on in the world, whereas where they are by house in our own charts shows how those big energies manifest specifically in our personal sphere. So for example… Pluto in Capricorn right now is breaking down and transforming the material world (Capricorn). So, if it is in your 4th house, you might move or be  renovating or changing your house in some way.

Water Water Everywhere

Get your wellies out and your raincoats on; it’s about to rain!! (metaphorically speaking) We are entering a very emotional and intuitive period as the Sun moves into the watery sign of Pisces where it snuggles up to Neptune (ruler of Pisces and god of the sea) and meets Mercury and Chiron there as well.  Neptune has not been in its own sign since it was first discovered there 150 years ago. Many feel this return will trigger a shift in our consciousness, as our deeper spiritual side awakens (on a collective level) from a long sleep. When we combine the misty light of Pisces with the transformative and healing power of Chiron, we can expect some deep processes to be set into play. We may feel a deep   urge to communicate (Mercury) our usually unconscious and intuitive urgings (Moon) which may result in some rather profound (or strange) conversations. On Tuesday, the Moon joins them all for the New Moon in Pisces.    ( “I’d like to be, down by the sea, in an octopuses’ garden

Happy Valentine's Day

...and then Almitra said, Master, speak to us of  Love: When love beckons to you, follow him, Though his ways are hard and steep. And when his wings enfold you yield to him, Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you. And when he speaks to you believe in him, Though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden. For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning. Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun, So shall he descend to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth. Like sheaves of corn he gathers you unto himself. He threshes you to make you naked. He sifts you to free you from your husks. He grinds you to whiteness. He kneads you until you are pliant; And then he assigns you to his sacred fire, that you may become sacred bread for God's sacred feast. All these things shall love do unto y

Whats Love got to do with it?

“Gamble everything for love, if you're a true human being.”    Rumi     Valentines Day is just around the corner and I would be remiss to not have a look at Venus, the planet of love, and see what shape she is in. As it turns out Venus is feeling a bit anxious and jittery as she sits in Aries, holding hands with wild child Uranus and glaring sideways at powerful Pluto, god of death, destruction and transformation. Uranus trine Moon brings a sense of surprise and delight to the day while the Sun still in Aquarius is open and friendly to all. The Moon in sexy sultry Scorpio  will definitely add some sizzle, though  emotional tension could be triggered by the Moon's square to Chiron Mercury and Neptune in Pisces.  Neptune can distort things and amp up our disappointment factor as fantasy turns to fiction.... setting off  latent feelings of vulnerability and victimization (Chiron). What happened to the dream? We are all so sensitive and

Full Moon in Leo: Let's Party!

Image
Today the Moon is Full in Leo opposite the Sun in Aquarius. Leo and Aquarius are fixed signs. They can both be stubborn and inflexible yet both are also very friendly and open to people.  Sun and Mercury sitting together in Aquarius help keep  lines of communication open. Aquarius is famous for its objectivity and ability to think outside the box, which can be very useful as a Leo Moon adds a little drama to things. Leo can be a bit  me, me, me and won't tolerate anyone trying to outshine them.  This is Leo's day  and most Aquarians won't mind stepping back and giving him or her center stage.   This is a fairly social Full Moon for everyone as a square from expansive Jupiter adds to the warmth of feeling and generousity coming from Leo. The only danger is that Jupiter in Taurus will amplify Leo’s love of expensive, rich delights and could trigger a spending spree or other types of self indulgence.  Leos love to pamper themselves and Jupiter in earthy sensual Taur

Today is Ground Hog Day in North America, where if a groundhog sees it's shadow s/he will go back into the burrow and winter will last 6  more weeks. It is also Imbolc (or Candlemass) .... the Celtic day marking of the halfway point between Winter Solstice and Spring equinox which is symbolized by lighting a candle to keep away the dark.  Both indicate a time to take pause and acknowledge our passage through  darker and colder (and more inward) winter days as we wait for spring to bring sun and warmth and outward movement (well in the Northern hemisphere at least). The first New Moon of 2012 was a few weeks ago in inventive Aquarius, with its lightning bolt ruler Uranus sitting at the beginning of the zodiac in excitable, pioneering Aries.  Things were looking good, projects were starting up, plans were being hatched. The Chinese New Year of the Water Dragon added even more impetuous, creative energy to our seed ideas, all waiting to be planted, nurtured so
