2013 Here we come!!

Here we are on the last day of a pretty intense year, winding down from yet another powerful Full Moon. Though the world did not end (surprise, surprise),  2012 was indeed a turning point for many, and 2013 will bring more of the same !! (and then some!) We are definitely living in interesting times!

In the past few posts I have mentioned  the ‘higher self’ quite a bit— and realize there can be many interpretations of what that might be.

What I have been referring to is our true identity, who is in contact with Source at all times and who understands our original intentions for coming to the world. Unfortunately most of us seem to have a form of amnesia. Even so, part of us deep down remembers…if we would only listen.  When we do get in touch with that deeper part of us, we move beyond the fear and limitations of the small self into an experience of our full potential as human beings.

Think of your higher self as an “alternate identity that is liberated from the fear and guilt associated with what we call the ego” (smaller, survival based self).

“That fear/guilt aspect often declares itself the mind’s one identity, hijacks the psyche and is, on the psychic level, one of the reasons why so many people drag themselves through existence with such struggle and misery.” (Eric Francis)

This years Winter Solstice, with its link to the end of the Mayan calendar,  strongly called to all of us wake up, to reconnect with who we are.

The purpose for doing this is pretty basic. If we are out of alignment with who we really are, then everything in our life tends to feel just a bit off. When we feel ‘off’, we tend do all sorts of things to try and feel ‘good’ . .. and not only does this take up a lot of energy, we remain dissatisfied.  We also tend to behave in some not so great ways and do some not so great things when we are out of alignment with ourselves.

All wisdom schools agree that the only thing that will really, really make us feel ok… is to be fully in touch with the very core of our being… our true self, which is in a constant state of ‘on’-ness (oneness!)

And when we are not… well look around. As within , so without.

At this end of the year moment, and this end of an era moment, we are being called very strongly to step up to the plate. Our planet is in crisis, our cultures are in crisis, many of our relationships  (personal and global) are in crisis, and many of us are in crisis.

It’s a major shake down and Pluto, the crisis planet, has been hitting us hard in the past year or two. Pluto also rules Scorpio, and Saturn in Scorpio is also pushing us to deal with deep survival issues.  Last Friday’s Full Moon joined the Sun and Pluto as well, just to make sure  there is no doubt that deep transformation is the name of the game now, and for a while to come.

When under pressure or feeling threatened, there is a very human tendency to attack, to judge, to blame.  Sometimes it is others we blame, sometimes it is ourselves.

The current series of eclipses in Gemini and Sagittarius ask us to let go of those judgments and patterns of blame, to step beyond old stereotypes and search for the bigger picture. They emphasize inner knowing, versus superficial information.

Know who you are!

Yet to get there usually requires  some growth and healing. I keep hearing over and over that healing starts with forgiveness; of self and other. Neptune and Chiron in Pisces right now signify a profound wave of grace and healing that can help us step beyond old grudges and past mistakes to wipe the slate clean.

And Uranus in Aries keeps pushing us forward.

Yet, Saturn in Scorpio reminds us that sometimes we have to wade through the pain and the grief before we are ready to let go.  That’s a bit scary sometimes. It can feel pretty overwhelming. To step into the unknown takes courage. And trust.  And it also means honouring where we have been and what we have been through,  as we assess what has been gained, and lost, along the way.

I always take time at New Year’s to reflect on the past year, as well as  to image forward into the new one, to…

‘Release the old, embrace the new’.

I am looking forward to another exciting, dynamic, and transformative year on planet earth!! Never a dull moment!

Happy New Year 2013!

Auld Lang syne
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind ?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and old lang syne ?

For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we'll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

And surely you’ll buy your pint cup !
and surely I’ll buy mine !
And we'll take a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

We two have run about the slopes,
and picked the daisies fine ;
But we’ve wandered many a weary foot,
since auld lang syne.

We two have paddled in the stream,
from morning sun till dine ;
But seas between us broad have roared
since auld lang syne.

And here’s a hand my trusty friend !
And give us a hand o’ thine !
And we’ll take a right good-will draught,
for auld lang syne.

Full Moon in Cancer

In a few days we will celebrate a New Year, 2013!  Can you believe it?

Today’s Full Moon in Cancer is the last Full Moon of 2012!  We have had some doozies this year, and this one is no exception.   After the four day Solstice pause, the Sun is now at 7 degrees Capricorn and about to bump into powerhouse Pluto, just after the Full Moon shines bright in emotional Cancer.

With the focus on the Pluto, including the ongoing square to rebellious Uranus, control dramas may surface, along with power plays, petty irritations  and sudden urges to break free  of restrictions.  Passions flare under any Full Moon and these tense aspects could  intensify and add pressure to personal exchanges. Some people thrive on this kind of juicy stuff... and it can work for you if you channel it positively. That might be a bit like riding a bucking bronco, but it can be done...

Pluto is about death, transformations or endings; quite fitting as we close out the year, and an era. Saturn in Scorpio has also been echoing this theme. In fact, a lot of the recent astrology has  focused on a need to let go of the past, so we can create something different than what has gone before, particularly in the area of personal relationships.

It just might be time to walk away once and for all from people of situations that no longer are working for you. Moon in Cancer wants to hold on forever, yet sometimes we just have to let the lying lie and the dying die…(or something like that. I have no idea where that saying comes from…) On the other hand, it takes maturity to make a commitment and stick with it. Somehow you have to decide which of these it is.

On a larger scale, Pluto in Capricorn is shaking up our cultural structures and transforming our relationship with both money and with authority systems; many are going through crisis and/or massive changes as the monetary systems break down all over the globe and jobs are lost , homes are foreclosed, loans are called in (something about a fiscal cliff!!).

Pluto wants us to claim our personal power by asking us to step up to the plate and be the change we want to see in the world.  These are powerful times, and as we focus on setting intentions for 2013, many things are possible.

There's also some lovely support right now, coming from Venus, planet of love, as she sits in wild and free Sagittarius opposite expansive Jupiter in social Gemini,  adding some sparkle to the atmosphere and providing fun through positive social energy.  It’s important to lighten up and celebrate even when so much is topsy-turvy.

If we can  remain mindful of the increased possibility of knee jerk reactions, and give way just a little, especially when triggered, we can continue to enjoy the holiday week without getting caught up in unnecessary dramas.

The Sun in philosophical Sagittarius shines out a reminder to rise above and stay in touch with our bigger selves. The Solstice’s recent call to remember our true purpose continues to ripple out into the pond of our collective  consciousness.

And overall, this potent Full Moon in Cancer channels and brings out our emotional, gentle, nurturing qualities. Everyone needs to feel loved and wanted...  to thrive. Activated by the Pluto/Uranus influence, along with Saturn and Neptune, some may surprise themselves, and others, by stepping out of their normal safety zones to help someone; extending practical assistance or offering kindness and support in ways they may not have considered before.

Others may step outside themselves... to reach out to ask for that help.

Cancer is the mother who makes sure her children are warm and fed and tucked safely in bed. Some of us may feel like the child who needs tucking in, while some of us will do the tucking.

Let the balm of this Moon Magic  sooth your furrowed brow and wash away inner tensions, even as she stirs them up! And if your tolerance levels do get tested, try to remember that we all have our foibles, as my friend Doug likes to say. Do unto others .....

And lastly, Neptune adds  a touch of mystery and poetry to the atmosphere, bringing us in touch with those secret longings so often buried and forgotten.

So go howl at the Moon… let your emotions come to the surface to be released and healed, and give yourself, or someone near you,  a big huge hug!

Go on, you know you want to…

The Return of the Light (Winter Solstice) 12.21.12

Tomorrow is the much-awaited Winter Solstice 2012. End of the Mayan Calendar, Cusp of a New Age.

Though I don’t believe in all the hype, it does seem that this time is a major marker /transition. It heralds the need to move from an old limited paradigm, based on greed and fear and power over, to a new level of consciousness in which things are perceived in different way. Its not going to happen over night, yet each of us can take steps to make it happen in our own selves, then slowly, slowly, in the world around us.

This is a seed moment.

The transition is to a conscious awareness of who we are, a reconnecting to our cosmic source, so we can align with the highest good and manifest something positive and inclusive in this world. Something based on love not hate, on joy not fear. On inner knowing, and peace, instead of ignorance and war.

The Astrology of Dec 21st warns of getting caught up in superficial hype, signified by Jupiter in Gemini highlighted by a formation called a yod.  This energy is great for holiday visiting and seasonal cheer, but tends toward exaggeration and hyperbole.

The  main event is that Sun and Earth are lining up in Sagittarius with the galactic core, as they do at this time every year. This is the center of our galaxy, and  the sign of Sagittarius represents the spiritual seeker, the seeking of meaning.

In 2012,  special significance is given to the Sun also crossing over the equatorial belt of the galactic core, which is what the Mayan calendar is (supposedly) based on. It marks the completion of a cycle (and not the end of the world!) We are also at the cusp of a new age, moving from Pisces to Aquarius.

Aquarius is about brotherhood and sisterhood. It’s about a return to our humanity. Its about equality and understanding.(I feel like I should break into song… “this is the dawning of the age of Aquarius’… lalala)

So this is BIG. It’s just that the shift has already started!

We have been approaching this point for several years, and will continue for several more. The sun has been moving over the equator point for a while now (some say since 1998). And the changes are afoot (in case you haven’t noticed…) and will continue.

And, at this very moment, approaching Dec 21st, 2012, the message beaming out from the galactic core is the same as it has always been. It is about knowing our purpose. It calls out to us to know who we are and why we are here.

And in reality, it started the day we were born.

So as the Sun sits still at this highly significant point in the sky,  let’s take a moment  to pause, breath in, breath out, take stock, reflect, renew. Take time to listen. To feel.

I am alive. We are alive. Hurray!

Did you know that the Sun stands in the same spot for  a few days, then slowly, incrementally, the days begin to get longer? I know…cool!   Seems Christmas represents that time when the Sun begins to move forward. ‘Christ’ means ‘Light.’

The return of the light!

I wish you a very Happy ‘Soul-stice’ and  a joy filled,  Merry Christmas!

May the light return in your life and in your heart and may you open the best gift you have ever been given.

Blessing on us all!

From Darkness to Light: New Moon in Sagittarius

It’s all a bit intense right now isn’t it?

The energies of the two recent eclipses (solar in Scorpio and lunar in Gemini) are still rippling out into the collective pond as we approach the end of the year and the winter solstice.

There is a deep cleansing and clearing occurring that will allow us to meet the new energy coming in … the purpose of which is to help us create a new way of being in the world. (and thus create a new world) This new world needs to be radically different than what we have up till now created (Pluto in Capricorn). A lot has to change (Uranus in Aries). What is being asked of us is nothing less than death... of our old small self  (Saturn in Scorpio).

Which means releasing all that holds us back (Saturn in Scorpio).  This may feel a bit scary. The deep cleansing, triggered by the recent concentration of energy in Scorpio, may have some feeling a bit overwhelmed as old issues rise to the surface to be faced. A lot of clearing has been around relationships, as we are asked to clean up our connections to the world and to each other… and, most importantly, to ourselves.

Part of making this work is to release old hurts, resentments, fear, etc. These are usually linked to old traumas from either our childhood or from previous relationships (and some would say even previous lives..)

Point is, who hasn’t been hurt or disappointed at some time or another? Who doesn’t have some sort of issue with their mother or father (or by extension, mother or father figures)? Trouble is, we tend to carry that forward into everything we do and everyone we love (or hate)  and suddenly we feel all the pain again and can’t figure out how to get it to stop.

So now is the time to heal and release… and there is much support, and imperative, to doing so. Part of that is facing those bits we shoved into the shadows (Scorpio) so they can be healed.

And because everything is accelerating big time as we hurtle into a new energy field (more on that in a minute) the process may be faster than you think. Just make your intention and see it happen. Satrun is a slow step by step process, but other factors are accelerating everything.

Just remember that right now issues may be exaggerated, so we can really see where we have releasing to do. Not always easy.

And, BTW,  we don’t have to (though Saturn has been called the taskmaster!!). We can resist, deny, avoid, and escape all we want. Mercury and Neptune square tomorrow will aid us, if that is our desire, as they blur the lines of reality.

We could also use this same energy to dive deep into our soul self and find an inner refuge from the storm. Fine line between that and escapism. Hmmm  Remember: it is always  our choice...to wake up, to be truly alive. Even though it might not be very advisable to be asleep at the wheel, you do have a choice. It is your life. Or ...um ...was!

We also need to remember, this is not just about the negative stuff: the point is to uncover all that is good, to  find out what’s really excellent about us, cause lots is.

So, though this is a time for facing our sh*t…and a time for letting it go, its is also, hugely, a time of self-discovery. That is what Sagittarius is all about.

The New Moon in Sagittarius tomorrow (wed) brings a new expansive thrust forward. We can press the restart button and step into the truth of who we are. Again. We do this each month in each sign, and at next New Moon, we get to try again, in a new way. At this time in the cycle, everything will continue to spiral closer and closer as we approach the core.

In Sagittarius we are dealing with core meaning. Who am I , why am I alive?

I will recap briefly the most recent planetary configurations triggering profound changes around us and within us.:

Pluto in Capricorn is breaking down the material world, the authoritarian systems, the power constructs we have become accustomed to (or not), so we can claim our own power and restructure our world.

Uranus in Aries is rebelling against the powers that be represented by Pluto in Capricorn… as people all over the world rise up to protest unfair distribution of wealth. Uranus in Aries also brings new visions, new discoveries, and new potential. Watch the science over the next years for some radical leaps.

Saturn in Scorpio brings us face to face with our deepest fears and our deepest strengths. It dredges up old stuff to be cleansed, transformed, and released.

Neptune in Pisces calls us home to our deepest soul selves. It dissolves our ego and reveals who we are beyond this temporary existence.

And earlier this year, Venus, the planet of LOVE, passed in front of the Sun, catching our attention and reminding what it is really all about.

Eclipses between Gemini and Sagittarius pushed us to release old outworn stories we tell ourselves, to get a glimpse of the big picture, while at the same time, allowing for each individual to find their own truth.

Oh and a Yod formation between Saturn, Jupiter and Pluto, with focal point on Jupiter.  More about getting the big picture. Getting to the truth. This is joyful energy.  Knowledge of the Self!

And Mercury  right now squaring Neptune, obscuring truth, details, etc! (luckily only for a day or two). Then it moves into Sagittarius, where all murkiness will disappear and be replaced by the focused arrow of truth.

All leading up to the Winter Solstice, 2012,  that long awaited turning point that will bring us into alignment with who we are. From darkness to light!  And as an added bonus, the days will start getting longer ( in the northern hemisphere at least.)

And no, the world will not end! (I hope)

Every year, the Sun passes between the earth and the Galactic core. This year, the fated and much prophesied 2012… (end of Mayan Calendar) is said to be especially powerful due to the Sun crossing over or near to the gravitational center of the galactic core. Now if you look at the image at the bottom of this page, we are very, very small in relation to the Milky Way Galaxy, and  the spot we cross over the equator is not one exact point,  it’s a wide band, (invisible to the eye) which we have already been crossing each year at this time for quite a few years.

I see it as a marker, a moment, to make an intention, to realign with source…  as the Sun passes close to a point which strongly resonates with source. As do we.

If you believe that Source is inside of us, then this is a flag to something we carry within us al the time.
Without it we would not exist.
Who we are is infinite being, innocent, whole, free.
We have just forgotten.

So, rather than the end of anything, this is a beginning. This  coming shift is about remembering…again, what we already  know deep down inside. The planetary energies are lining up now to nudge us a little is all.  It won’t happen in a day, or a month (for most) It’s a process, not an event.

We can use this day to sit in silence, to pray, or meditate or write or dance… whatever it is that will put us in touch with our heart and our life force. We can plant a seed/ an intention.

And one thing is true on any day. We are here!  Isn’t it amazing?

My son and his partner just had a baby girl last week, and as I sat with her on day two of her life, I felt the purity of her being and the simplicity of her essence, and thought…why do we get so far away from this?

So tomorrow, on 12.12.12 – a magic number for sure- with the New Moon in Sagittarius, the spiritual adventurer, we  can set an intention. Mine is to continue to move forward into the light … which resides in the human heart. In my heart.

Then, on 20.21.12… on the winter Solstice, we can celebrate the Return of the Light, the return of our selves, to ourselves.

Halleluiah!!

Full Moon Eclipse in Gemini

A partial Lunar Eclipse of the Full Moon in Gemini occurs at 9:46 am EDT /2:46 pm GMT Wed November 28th.  This Eclipse  asks us to get our head out of the sand (of distractions) and urges us to focus on the big picture. While the Moon is overshadowed for a short time, the Sun in Sagittarius calls us back to our purpose, asking us to remember our life’s true meaning.

A Yod aspect draws the energies of several other planets into the eclipse energy field, with the ‘finger of god’ (another term for a Yod formation) directed at the Moon and thus at the eclipse. An eclipse marks a sudden departure from the past and this one is no exception.

For a good part of this year, life for many has been about arranging ourselves in relationship to others, sorting out the past and preparing to move into a state of being, a new era.

There has been great intensity and tension created by many retrogrades, several eclipses, plus the ongoing Cardinal Grand Cross, which includes a very, very tense angle between Pluto and Uranus.

The latter has been stirring up rebellion and revolt against tyranny and outmoded systems that favour the few over the many. That revolution continues all over the world as we speak.

The inner revolution has been to confront our feelings of powerlessness and to walk away from old patterns of abuse and inner confusion. Where do we give our power away? Do we  sometimes abuse our selves (internally) far more than anyone else does? Facing this may create a temporary crisis as we struggle to find a way out of the shadows. Trust that you will emerge victorious, though it may entail a bit of struggle.

We are moving through a time of deep cleansing in preparation for the renewal that occurs at the Winter solstice.

No matter what interpretation you put on the predictions for this years solstice, (Mayan Calendar etc)  this is always a powerful time as we move toward the darkest night of the year.

Saturn in Scorpio (part of the yod formation) is now holding up a very large mirror so we can get a good look at what we are doing and where we have been. As it moves through the sign of sex, death and transformation, we may have to face issues we tend to avoid, yet this will give us more access (once we get through the ensuing resistance) to the deeper juicier parts of our psyche.

Old residues of guilt and shame hidden in the recesses of our minds can colour our ability to let go and truly inhabit our bodies and our sexuality, and our power. Saturn in Scorpio for the next two and a half years is going to prompt us to examine those residues and deal with what we really want or feel.

Venus now sitting with Saturn brings up issues and fears re sex and sharing,  loss of control,  loss of love, loss of money. The urge for personal transformation will bring us face to face with our need to step beyond what is comfortable, and those with personal planets in Scorpio may get put through the gauntlet.

The Venus/Saturn combination also has great staying power, activating a deep sense of commitment in love and an ability to persist to the end. This bodes well for those aspects of our process that require persistence and perseverance.

This Full Moon eclipse is the culmination of the  New Moon Eclipse in Scorpio two weeks ago; both are about releasing the past to make way for a new way of doing and being. The intention you put out then will be starting to take root now. If you prepared the soil well and planted deep, what you envisioned will survive the long winter.

In Scorpio we deal with old hidden issues that are in need of releasing.

This Lunar eclipse, combined with the Full Moon energy, will bring to a close that which is ready to end, and  help us rise to the occasion of creating what we truly want.

In Gemini, it may involve letting go of the stories (or lies)  we tell ourselves ... to make way for a new paradigm.

Mars conjunct Pluto,  sitting on the other side of the Yod aspect,  provides a powerful surge of energy that can move us beyond the past. Though everything may not change in a day, this is definitely the moment it starts to shift.

Eclipses contain the seeds of change, and with Mars/Pluto's focused determination, its the perfect time to create new personal authority and structure in our lives.

All in all, this is very, very intense energy, so please be cautious and careful right now, as accidents and violence are much more likely under this combo. With Uranus involved, we may be confronted by the unexpected.

This past summer, the same combination corresponded with several very public acts of violence (One was the shooting inside a theater in the US). If you are feeling a build up of tension, find a positive outlet like martial arts, kickboxing,  jogging etc. Or jump up and down and shout! Or... eat chocolate. (try to release or soothe the beast in other words)

And if you sense someone is in a rage…  take cover, keep your head down, don’t provoke them (you could feed them chocolate!)

Meanwhile, the Full Moon in Gemini reflects how easily we can get distracted and caught up in a myriad of details of excess information, symbolized most aptly by the internet, which most will agree is a blessing and a curse. The term ‘search engine’ is a perfect metaphor for a seemingly endless pursuit of information we engage in every day.

Truth is sometimes stranger than fiction and another aspect of this eclipse will be the shattering of false beliefs. What do I know, and how do I know it? What do I believe and why do I believe it?

"I think, there for I think I am" (Descartes)

Think, think, think…  sometimes we cant stop thinking…!!!

Jupiter’s proximity to the Full Moon amplifies our thoughts and feelings and inspires us to go beyond the petty and the mundane. The Sagittarius Sun sitting opposite the Moon asks the question… (imagine an East-Indian accent)  ‘What knowledge is it you are seeking? Knowledge of self, or knowledge of  ‘stuff’.’

And one last thing: beware the influence of Neptune, which can cause some serious misinformation misguided behaviour and downright deception.  Read the fine print before you sign on the dotted line!   Neptune, Chiron (in Pisces) and Jupiter (in Gemini with the Full Moon) bring inspiration, heightened creativity and the potential for divine guidance, yet there is also the danger of getting lost in our own fantasies. Find a sacred space to access the potent flow of expansive emotion and ideas, yet keep your feet on the ground.

If driving, please avoid drugs and alcohol and/or… have a designated driver. This is a potentially dangerous Full moon where accidents are very, very possible.

And though Mercury is now direct, it will take a bit of time to retrace its steps’ so don’t assume everything is totally back to normal (whatever that is !!)

North America, Australia and the Far East will be able to watch as the Gemini Moon becomes partially eclipsed  by the shadow of the earth (see chart below)

You may  notice the heightened polarity between an urge for an objective overview or the tendency toward  self-serving subjectivity. If you feel stuck in a mental loop, take a moment to stop the mind's chatter and sit in your deepest knowing.

Eclipses of the Moon reveal unconscious intuitive processes.    A larger truth or a greater vision may be revealed.    Ask and it shall be given.

The answer lies within.

Mercury Madness

Today Retrograde Mercury joined both the Sun and the North Node in the late degrees of Scorpio. This will intensify some people’s need to get at the hidden truth of a situation. Some will dig deep to get to it. Others will happen upon it by accident.

When Mercury first started going backward on November 6th,  it squared Neptune, planet of illusion and confusion (and enlightenment) I wrote last week about how this would create a blurring of the  lines of communication or of reality or trigger the revelation of secrets or taboo information that had been kept hidden.

Because this occurred exactly the day of the American elections, there was a strong assumption  that things could go horribly wrong…like in the Bush lection of 2000 when he got in even though he had less votes.  When this time everything went smoothly (well except for the Super Storm Sandy a few days before)  many were wondering how the craziness would manifest  (it was expected in the US in particular because of links to the US chart)

Lo and behold… just a few days later, we saw a lovely bit of Scorpio drama emerge in the form of the sex scandals of two US generals who also have worked for the CIA etc etc.

Scorpio = sex, Mercury retro =  information previously lost or hidden (especially when  in Scorpio where hidden things lie). There was also a link to Mars in Sagittarius (military).  And a square between Mercury  to Neptune can manifest as lying and fictitious information, and veils of illusions.  If you have seen any of this story  on the news... I think you'll agree that it’s a total circus.

Not being a political pundit (or a gossip monger)  I will leave the discussion of this issue to others more qualified (such as Eric Francis at Planet Waves.com) (political pundit, not gossip)

Anything like that happening in your own life? Is madness erupting for those of you with strong Scorpio in your chart?

Mercury retrogrades often get a bad rap due to the supposed chaos they can trigger, so this time  I decided I wasn’t going to give all the hype  too much heed . Some times I think we get what we expect…  so why expect disaster?

Well everything was ticking along quite nicely until yesterday when both Mercury (and the Sun) hit my natal Saturn (in my first house of self) and squared my natal Pluto as well.  This is a very very very intense aspect in my chart and I can tell you I have definitely been feeling it this weekend. Talk about being between a rock and a hard place.

And yet also quite funny really; for all my protestation, the last two days have been rife with crazy technological screw ups and communication chaos… creating much angst but making me laugh as well.  For instance, suddenly my mobile phone will not receive calls or text messages. I can call out but no one can call in.

And I have used up five discs  trying to burn a DVD for a meeting I am hosting next week; nothing is working so far and I don't know why (well I know why, but that's  not a logical explanation is it?!).

And remember my story a few weeks back about my date going horribly wrong when the planets were full of oppositions at the last Full Moon. We went out again in the midst of the Grand Cross tension… (I said I would keep you posted). Well it all started off ok, but eventually end we did succumb to pressure and ended up in some ridiculous stand off. Again.

Everything is  ok now but it was a bit testy for a few days. I do have to say, when he was stomping away and I was fiercely calling him a coward, a part of me was quite detached and thinking, ah this is the Grand Cross acting out, it’s just the planets. Haha ...  this is not real!!!   This time I  was not going to be so unconsciously dragged into things. Well... um...mostly...not.

Have you heard of the book: The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz?  One of the agreements is

  “ Don’t take anything personally”…!!

When there are intense planets cris -crossing and opposing each other and setting off sparks, remaining detached is  not always easy.  Yet, knowing you are  in the midst of a planetary storm really does help.

Fast forward to this weekend’s retrograde Mercury moving back into intense Scorpio and hitting my Saturn (i.e wall !!)   A part of me finds it quite funny to be played with by the Trickster, Mercury. To another part (the serious Saturn part)…  not so funny!

So… he stopped by last night to see me,  but as I didn’t respond to several texts, and my doorbell is not working (!!!) he didn’t come in.

Meanwhile I was getting very tense  (Saturn square Pluto is very, very tense) and wondering why he hadn’t called. But damned if I was going to call him. So I sat and stewed (shades of the last scenario) and meanwhile he tried and tried to contact me with no response. He came all the way to my place and then, thinking I was either not at home or already asleep, he turned around and went home again (a 1 ½ hr bus trip)

When I woke up this morning and still no message, I really started t fry. But then I discovered the Sun was  lighting up my Saturn stuff… so I decided to try and let go and relax and let him show up whenever. Of course that was a challenge with the tension inherent in my chart being activated. In fact it gave me a chance to look at that stuff and do some inner work around trust.

Then I found the package he left me on my doorstep (movie for us to watch, hand carved candle holder, pamphlet about native healing herbs) etc (I know…    awwwwwwww!! :)

My pride melted,  I called him to say thank you…  and subsequently discovered that he had sent me numerous messages (which I never got!!) and had actually been at my door the night before. Geez!

Moral of the story.: In a Mercury Retrograde, especially when Neptune is involved, : nothing is as it seems so… be patient, Don’t jump to conclusions … or judgments, until you know the truth of a situation. Never assume…anything.

And with Mercury and Saturn in Scorpio: Try not to be paranoid.

P.S. A sense of humour helps!

Solar Edclipse in Scorpio

-->

“A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, thereby totally or partially obscuring the image of the Sun for a viewer on Earth.

The total Solar Eclipse happens on November 13, 2012, 2:08 pm PST, 5:08 pm EST, and 10:08 pm Greenwich (Nov 14 in Eastern Europe and points east). It will last 3.2 hours, showing an influence lasting 3 years and 2 months (astrologically speaking).

If you are in Cairns, Australia you will be able to view the whole eclipse. The rest of us will feel it rather than see it.

The power of Scorpio is extremely strong right now with both Sun and Saturn and the New Moon Eclipse.  Scorpio rules sex, death, shared resources (taxes); all the taboo stuff people avoid or talk about in hushed whispers. Scorpio penetrates the surface and brings what is hidden in the shadows into the light of day. Whatever does come to the surface now can be cleared for once and for all.

With Saturn in Scorpio over the next two and a half years,  the truth will gradually out, and secrets will  surface. Tuesday's (or Wed for some)  Solar Eclipse will accelerate this process by triggering a cathartic cleansing of self, revealing old shaming stuff you really don’t need anyway, or by bringing you face to face with something you have been avoiding. This can be uncomfortable over the short term, yet worth the effort to stand your ground and do the inner work. Once we face what is not working any more, it  can free up a lot of energy.  As we release old feelings of shame or regret, we clear a space to begin again, and a time of endings becomes a time of new beginnings.

This is what Scorpio is all about. Like its symbol the pheonix, we can rise again from the ashes.

( To see where these changes and transformations will occur, look to the house that Scorpio rules in your own chart.... see www.astro.com to get a free chart)   I listed the house meanings in a post a few months ago. You can find them at the end of the article found here: http://aurumastrology.blogspot.ca/2012/09/new-moon-in-virgo-its-all-in-details.html

Mars right now in Sagittarius reminds that ‘the truth shall set you free….’ (just remember that your truth may be different from mine... and vice-versa.  No need to force anything on anybody.)
The intense polarities of the past month have already brought up issues regarding power and control. Belief systems  highlighted by Mars and Jupiter may have been challenged.

As this New Moon in Scorpio starts a new cycle of energy, the added eclipse creates a distinct and powerful break with what has gone before. Together they emphasize the need to move on in a big way.  And remember... a New Moon is a seed event; whatever intention we put out can and will grow and manifest.

So if  there is something you have been struggling to let go of, some change you want to see manifest in your life, this energy can give you a rocket boost through what has been holding you back.

Just be forewarned:there is always some kind of personal transformation in Scorpio, and possibly even a necessary sacrifice.  In ancient times, the ritual death of the old king was seen as necessary to  bring in a new abundance and new growth. This  ‘death of the old’  theme recurs again and again now as  Saturn moves through Scorpio and Pluto and Uranus square off in the background.

The resulting transformation and release  prepares us for what occurs at the Winter Solstice coming up soon  at the cusp of Sagittarius and Capricorn (more on that in another post).  This is a  time of great change and acceleration, and so many powerful planetary events mark a significant  turning point for  the human race and planet earth.

As we go through this purge of the past, we release potent and buried parts of ourselves, which will in turn help us move forward into the new year and the new age (if you believe in that part of it).  The energies now will help us make the changes necessary.

It’s only when we resist (Saturn) that things get painful.
Then there’s also Neptune, planet of illusions and delusions turning direct today, which  will combine with the Mercury retrograde to obfuscate details and create confusion and chaos.

This means while the eclipse is pushing things up and out, Neptune and Mercury may conspire to keep them hidden.

It will require diligence and perhaps a bit of ruthless honesty to stay real in the midst of all this and do what’s necessary to get at the truth (you know… the one that will set you free!).

If you feel a bit pressured or perhaps scrambled, now you know why.  We can always benefit from some downtime to listen to what’s coming up... and that is especially true right now. A retreat or a weekend off, or some time to journal or process in some way ... will facilitate the process of release.

Be gentle with yourself.  Make a wish ...  then let it go.

And  rest assured in the knowledge that you are a precious one, cared for by a benevolent and love filled universe.

Desiderata
Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.

Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings.  Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.

And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him (or her) to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life,

 keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.

 Be careful.
Strive to be happy.
